Well a couple years ago I decided that rather than have several precision centrefire rifles it would be more fun to include a precision .22 in the mix for all the usual rimfire fun!
My only .22 is an old cooey that my father gave me when I was 10. It is still accurate and still great to shoot however it is single shot and getting old. Still I will hold on to it to pass onto the next generation.
So I finally got off my butt this month and started the process to put something together. I sold one of my knives to fund the project. So starting with a budget of 1600$ I want to put together something special.
Right now I have everything on order that I need.
First I got a Volquartsen Action from Milarm
I have a hogue stock and some magazines coming from Cabelas. I was originally wanting a lighter ultralight stock but none fit a bull contoured barrel. I will take the hogue and lighten it where possible.
and I just got off the phone ordering a Volquartsen Carbon Fibre barrel from Sylvestre Source for Sports in Bonnyville. I originally was hoping to order from site sponser Praetorian Tactical unfortunately they were out of stock and weren't looking at getting more in the near future.
I'm going to duracoat it all flat black. I was hoping for a VQ black action and barrel however both companies only had SS models in stock. I still have black duracoat left here so no problems, I'll save the extra cost and do it myself (the black painted models cost a bit more)
Lastly I'm still on the fence when it comes to optics. I'm trying to make it a lightweight plinker so I have been thinking of either a red-dot sight or a small low power scope. This is going to be used mostly for plinking however it will be turned against the odd grouse now and again.
So far I'm pretty much at my budget before the optics.
I will add more photos and whatnot as I get more parts in and get it put together.
