Well, thought for my 1k post I should actually try and say something productive:D. But since I can't, I thought I would share with the milsurp crowd a few quick pics of what has become my collecting passion over the last many years. I know this pales in comparison to many out there, but I'm happy to show them off to you all anyway. I used to have quite a few more, and foolishly parted with them to pay for things like food and diapers. But I am still chasing the k98, and in the meantime I collect American, Japanese and of course Canadian (all of which are always open to trade towards a decent K98:) ).
So here they are, in no particular order:
-bolt mismatch only 237 1939 dated km marked
-matching DUV 1941 dated
-bolt mismatch only BCD 1942 dated
-matching BCD/AR 1942 dated dual code
-matching BNZ 1943 dated
-matching DOU 1944 dated
Thanks for looking:)

Nice K98 lot you have:D

So you're the guy winning all the eBay auctions for K98 accessories. You can stop now and save some for the rest of us. :p Good job making #1000 worthwhile! Sweet rifles Joe.

Very nice, very nice.

And, of course, you are now officially a Big Mouth AND your Goat should be coming along quite soon.

All in all, a most impressive thousandth post!
.

Aww shucks, thanks guys, can't wait for the goat:D .
I have had alot of inspiration here from most of of you. Gotta say, out of all of these, my favorite is likely the DOU44, even though it has a sanded stock. The finish is outstanding for a late war rifle.
I have not bought anything off Ebay for years, all the accessories I picked up in Europe while visiting family over the last 25 or so years. I could not afford to collect today. I have managed to get matching bayonets from the years 1936-1944, still looking for a 1935 and 1945.
And for k98s, if I can fd decent examples of a 1940 and a 1945, I will be done for the war years.
Guys like Coyote Ugly, Kidvett and Smellie (and many more of you) for instance are longtime collectors who are willing to share their knowledge with those of us trying to learn.
Thanks again Gentlemen for looking:redface:
Joe

Congrats on achieving this milestone, and I must add, your 1000 posts have been productive ones for CGN. Others have hit 3000 and not contributed a tenth of what you have.

You can't go wrong collecting K98's. They're beautiful, full of history, and in so many variants that you'll never have them all. Thanks for sharing the pics.
