First thoughts (before trigger time) on my slightly used NEA 12.5" AR-15: WOW what a cool looking rig! Before anyone cries about why I didn't buy a Daniel Defense - I live in New Zealand. There are two quality, economical AR's available over here. It's either Norc or NEA. I know Norcs are amazing and accurate. BUT, with my mint condition NEA I have the very nice fore end, NEA mini-can suppressor (that's right fella's- SUPPRESSOR :rockOn:), Crusader muzzle brake, Noveske K9 handstop and a heap of MAGPUL thangs that cover the picatinny rails (I don't know why, but I reckon they are there so there is less air turbulence on the rifle as I run like a mountain lion through the jungle?). Norcs don't come with this gear and it would cost me close to $1000 dollars extra to have the same gear with a new Norc. This rifle feels great in my hands, the trigger is not as good as my Savage Accu-Trigger but about 10 times better than my SKS so I am happy. There is a slight bit of slop between the upper/lower which does not affect the accuracy but I might get a accu-wedge to tighten it up. I am absolutely blown away with the finish on the rig (much better than a Norc- but lets not be mean to the Norc boys...). I've mounted my Bushnell TRS-25 and will be touching off rounds very shortly. I have named my rig "DRAGON". Perhaps someone can tell me how the heck I can post photos.......

I know NEA has a bad rep around here, and they did have some issues with the older rifles, but my 2 are champs,I love themAnd i actually love the grey finish.Enjoy your rifle!

PS,you said you had "slop" between your upper and lower?Mine seem to be almost too tight when i first built them, yours is the first ive ever heard about with any real movement between receivers.

The movement between upper and lower is barely perceptible, there is no rattle when I shake the rifle. But if I twist the foreend there is a very slight bit of movement. I searched the net and if it bugs me I can put a O ring rubber washer on the forward lug (or whatever its called), or put in an accuwedge but the small amount of movement is a non issue. How do I copy a photo into the text?

Enjoy your rifle. Get to know how it works and how to use / maintain it properly.... the more you practice with it the more you will enjoy it. The AR platform is versatile and fun!
