My 14 year, two minute bull.

I've never hunted in those parts. My friends son in law got a couple wolves around boggy lake last summer. The big black one filled the box of the truck like it was a whitetail. They were trying to chew on his cattle. A couple guy's from Bergen go out there all the time and have gotten some decent deer too.
Have yet to see any bears out that way though...

There were a couple around me almost daily all of last November. One day I did a 3/4 mile loop and wound up walking in my tracks only to find a Bear was also walking on the same path; he/she left a a big smelly present in the center of my boot print. I figure a bear tag will ensure I won't be disturbed this year.

That sounds familiar to my having an elk tag for so long, sooner or later if you're in the right area it just has to work in your favour and sure enough if you don't have a tag, that's when they show up in droves!  Like when I was 16, same field as I got this guy in a huge heard ran through right in front of me and my 30-06 150 yards away, no tag. Never again I said!

I remember the first time I took Christy out for fall Black bear, We went out on the logging roads just north of the Burnt Timber Gas Plant. We found a lovely steamy berry suprise pile of scat on an old trail. We sat back to back, her with a 270 and I had the 375 H&H. I started to squal away on a Charlton call and man I don't know who was more scared of what was going to happen. She was not enjoying sitting by the "ringing dinner bell" at all. Nothing ever came of it but it sure kept our senses acute.
Good luck with the bruin search Jarrod!

Noel; Congratulations on a beauty! Glad you were able to make that 7x57 work for you. Also thanks for the honorable mention re: Loads shared. It pleases me a lot to be able to share something useful to a fellow shooter. Once again good work! Eagleye.
