well it started off as a POS norinco I got on trade here on CGN (the gun was in great shape and I am really happy with the trade so no bad words to the other end of that trade :D

with the help of CyberK who master hands guided me threw the build and the parts help let me grab out of his Box O goodies I cam up with this,This dude nows how to work on guns!

all the is Rinco is gone but the frame first thing I did was sell off all the rinco parts but the frame filled in the Norinco stampings and the made in China #### with JB weld and alot of sanding and swearing:D

all sharp edges where softened and I added a Fusion slide,Kimber Match Barrel and bushing ,Wolf spring kit,Wilson match trigger hammer, ambi safety slide release and highgrip safety,Trijicon night sights Ergo grips in Desert Tan, and CyberK came to my house to Paint the gun in MagPull Dark earth Guncoat:evil: gun runs and shoots better then I can

oh I should add the grip screws are gone now too!!!LOL

the trigger is one of the nicest I have ever pulled on a 1911!!!

a big thanks to CyberK for sharing his vast skill's with me a 1911 knob

why might I ask? I have shorter thumbs but I never use the slide stop anyways I am a sling shot or over the top racking Mofo myself:ninja:
 
Any pics from during the various stages of build? Where did you get the Fusion slide and the barrel and all that other stuff?

How much filing/grinding/metalwork did you have to do overall?

no pic's of the build, but as stated in the first post all the parts came from CyberK's box O goodies:D

it was not to much work but there was alot of fitting to the slide to frame as the fusion stuff is tight and not drop in/on all was done with hand files and lapping compound I softened the edges of the frame and slide with a fine sand paper and elbow grease!

How bout the other part of my question about metal work and filing/grinding/fitting? How hard was that and how much of it did you have to do? Was it something you could've done without help?

I ask because this is exactly what I want to do and am trying to gauge just how much work goes into it.
 
Jamie, nice job. Did you sell the Norinco barrel? Why do I ask? Every 'rinco I have fired shot just fine. The only thing I have ever had done to my two 'rincos is the installation of fitted barrel bushings. Regards, Richard:D

the metal work was not hard really just take your time and do little bits at a time;)

the Barrel was sold with the slide this Kimber barrel don't shoot to bad Reaper put 20rds into one ragged hole yesterday;)

All I can say about the fitting and filing is practice, practice, practice, then read some books on 1911s, then practice some more. In reality, it is not rocket science. You really want to make sure you are confident in what you are doing before you do it yourself though.

To answer your question more directly, it is A LOT of work. Make sure you have the right tools. A good selection of GOOD QUALITY files will make your life much easier as well.

As always, if you are doing this for the first time, make sure you have everything checked out by someone who knows what they are doing before you fire any live rounds!!!

gotcha;) I have never had that happen to me yet in the 300rds I put threw it yesterday;) I am a thumbs forward shooter so it is more then likely I will have the slide shut on empty then have it bump to locked;) I do alot of
drills so if the gun don't go bang it gets TAPed and RACKed at light speed:D
