In contrast to what I've said previously, I bowed to temptation and acquired my 1st and only Safe Queen. I've purchased a S&W model 29, Elmer Keith Commemorative:D.

It arrived this morning, quite the Friday the 13th:).

That sure in pretty. I'm just not the sort to resist the temptation to take it out and shoot it so it's likely better off in YOUR safe.... :D

Beautiful. A very fitting acquisition given your photos and correspondence with Mr. Keith

Well, if you had to own a commemorative handgun you could've done worse!

Congrats!

Beautiful and congratulations on the addition to your already fine revolver collection! Was Mr. Keith's front sight of choice the red ramp?

:)Thanks guy. I couldn't really say if the red insert was a choice of his or not but I 'believe' it was an inovation of S&W. It 'may' have been the result of input from Keith or other knowledgeable individuals. Couldn't really say off hand but;) obviously I'll have to re-read the chapter on Sixgun sights in his book Sixguns. In his book there are a number of variations he talks about.

With the exception of primarily 'paper punching', my 'ideal' would be something along the lines of a combination of what he has pictured as a ramp and his long range sight with the gold bars. The top and 3rd down on the left above.

A wonderful new addition to your collection.

I think it's time you offered an open house tour of your gun room to all us South VanIsle gun nutz. I, for one, would willing to pay a small entry fee, let's see.... $5 to look, $10 to fondle, $15 to drool, Something like that.

Man I never get tired of seeing that 4 inch .44 Smith with the ivory grips. Love that thing!! When anyone says "You can't hunt with Handguns" I tell them about good ol' Elmer.

:)I'm a jealous master, besides,;) that's what gun shows are for:p. Duncan on Jan. 5th? I have enough trouble keeping them clean from my fondling.

You 12(6) guys make me sick....with envy!
Another nice revolver Johnn but like others have already said....I'd shoot it ('cause I'm weak).
