Hi guys and gals,
Just thought I would share with you some pics of my 257 Weatherby Vangaurd I just painted this weekend. I think it turned out ok for my 1st paint job.

The black looks like it's thick paint drizzled all over the stock with blobs all over.

Good on you for trying but I think you might want to try again using spray paint or an air brush rather than thick paint for the accent effects.

^ Did you rub down the lacquer after it dried?

I just did this M700 stock. Top pic is the camo job, which is medium flat grey, tan and black. Then I put 3 coats of lacquer on it and rubbed it down with steel wool. The bottom pic is the end result.

There's a soft sheen to it, but the laquer should protect the finish for a long time.

That Looks really good! Nice Job! I did'nt rub down the laquer do you think it'd be a good idea?

I'm no expert, I got that advice from other guys that have done stocks. It definitely does reduce the shine the lacquer puts on the finish.

I didn't take a pic of the stock before I rubbed down the lacquer. Shoulda done that I guess... it was really shiny though, and it's a lot better after the steel wool.

It took very little time to do.
