Although the X-Tac is Wilson’s most inexpensive pistol they offer, save one 9mm model, I would put this gun up against those costing hundreds or even thousands more. The function, reliability, accuracy, and quality throughout tell you it’s a solid 1911 pistol; the price tells you it’s a guaranteed bargain!
There are production guns on the market that have nowhere near the hand-built quality this model does, yet cost only a few hundred dollars less. For a 1911 pistol in the “Semi-Custom” class, I can’t see anything coming close to the value of the X-Tac. I know some may not like the looks of the X pattern on the slide and frame, but I think those may change their tune once they get it in their hands and run some rounds through it.
If you’re looking for a solid built, quality 1911, with little frills, I really suggest you take a look at the X-Tac, it will not disappoint.

I will shoot them both the same, it is not to often than you can grab such a quality piece, they do not send them often north of the border, i was not planning it, but as soon as i saw it, i could not resit it, maybe they wont be no more for 5 years so... JP.

A Wilson is pretty much the only non-Colt, non-full-house-custom left that interests me (that I don't already own). They're head and shoulders above the other semi-custom production houses.
Might buy an X-tac myself one of these days. It's a good way to get in to a Wilson that isn't full-on stupid money for a production gun and the functionality of the X-tac is no different than an Elite, just less finish work.

I've owned a Wilson CQB for many years. Mine was bought as a CQB but received factory upgrades at the time that would make it the equivalent to a CQB Elite today. You cannot appreciate them until you've shot one and then stripped it down. At a glance they may appear just like any 1911....but looks are deceiving. Worth it? To me it is because nothing has equaled it yet. All sorts of Glocks, Sigs, Kimbers, and HK's have come and gone but this one is still with me. There is nothing like a well built 1911, and that doesn't just apply to Wilson. You all know the other high end builders. Good choice Caramel....
I don't think it would be worth the cost they charge for their ammo - especially since you'll most likely end up reloading for it (hint hint, hornady lock n load ap progressive and you'll be loading tuned ammo for it) but you will most definitely NOT want to run that cheap & dirty chinese ammo in that Wilson. That's be like running the cheapest 87 octane fuel into a C63 AMG Black Series- not a full out race car, but as close as you can get and drive on main street...
In other words - sacrilege!!!
If the Wilson can't digest Norc ammo & shoot it well, then it ain't worth $4K.

No problem, shooting every ammo in the Wilson, before this 1911 can be sold, it must shoot like 100 of various ammo cheap, heavy, light, weak, lead, FMJ, +P, wadcutter, if there is one failure, it will not be sold, you can read that on their site... JP.
