I loved the LMG style of the m78 but really wanted the AK style in more of a rifle platform and in the correct caliber with AK47 mags

So I made the decision to chop the barrel on one of my most rare m78 rifles. Purists can suck it if they think what i did was stupid. I dont tell you how to raise your kids so dont tell me how to treat my rifles.

Anyway i just got it back from the smith about 2 days ago and all i can say is i should have done this sooner. The thing points so natural and is a few pounds lighter.

I had the barrel chopped down from roughly 24" to 18.5", crowned, re threaded and the muzzle brake/ front sight base moved back. All i need to do is fit my AK or M71 stock on it and have that NON RESTRICTED AK rifle in my family finally ;-).

Now i just need more 5/30, 5/40, and drum mags, LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, now #### time:

with 30 rounder

with 40 rounder

with Romanian Drum mag

AND....
Size comparison to my NEW unaltered M78

Does that mean you don't want to be told it was a stupid thing to do ? :)

How do you sleep at night with that thing in your house, and with the drum mag my god a slice of heaven!! Put an m76 stock on it and the masses of cgn will come and worship it

Now you need to source a russian AK gas system and rivet in a Russian trunion block, then have the barrel turned down to AK47 contour and put on laminated AKM-47 kalashnikov furniture and it will be perfect.

Originally tha was the plan, if i can source some excellent condition parts then it will be done like that in the future but for now I am more then stoked on it. I talked to another member on here and he stated to me "I have some serious balls just doing what I did", lol.

I'll be happy with just an AK stock, I love that bull bbl look it has already. Kinda looks lik a ppit bull with a hardon
