Hey 1899, the 243 was enough for this deer! One shot, hit him in the front chest on the left side, went through his right shoulder and embedded in the hide on the other side. Dug out the bullet in the skin. Ran about 4 yds, hit a tree and that was all he wrote.

That looks like a nice whitetail, those 243 with a good bullet prove they can do the job to with proper shot placement.

243 can kill
i use mine for deer all the time. it's worked for me,i've killed a deer at 250 yards(thats the farthest) but most were closer. its all in bullet placement. last year i shot my elk (110 yards),the year before my moose(85 yards) and my buddy's at 100 yards. all three animals were shot once and only once. a lot of my friends have 300,s and laugh at my kid's gun(the 243) but i like the meat,and do not want reck the good stuff. i have bigger guns but feel more deadly with the 243. and it's lighter,and i walk alot.

I agree with you 45atv. This 243 of mine was my dad's gun. He shot everything from deer to moose to bear to coyotes with it. Only big game rifle he ever owned. I had a 270 but sold it. Have total faith in my 243. Good to see other bucks taken with it. I hunted with 2 guys who both were carrying 300's. They both said "Hey these are 300 yard deer guns" I just held up my 243 and said "Hey this my 300 yd deer gun"
