My 2007 Grizz Hunt story with pics

So how long 'til you can get the LEH grizzly tag again?

I hope it's not a one shot deal!

I believe I can apply for the spring 2008 hunt on a reduced odds level and after that my odds should be as good as anyones :) I will for sure continue to hunt this area

Fricken rights. I am aware when i am out and just see their tracks. The naysayers were wrong Tod. You didn't get eaten and lived to tell a great story. Congrats dude. Sorry about the bear. You hunt enough and it will happen. Unfortunate part of the game.

I just had a lookagain at the pics, and they're incredible.
I've never hunted land liek that, but hopefully in the next few years I'll get out there...

I think you and your partner should try to hone your shooting skills some.

Wow, it got three pages before some clown chimes in about what you "Apparently" did wrong. Knew it would happen eventually.

I guess jealousy manefests in many ways...

My comment infered these two guys need some shooting practice. Two guys opening up on a grizzly at relatively close range, and just wounding it is wrong in my book.

Leaving a wounded Grizzly in the bush is wrong also in this "clowns" opinion. It endangers everyone else in the bush, other hunters, loggers, tree planters, prospectors ...

I have only shot one grizzly, and7 black bears, so I am no bear expert. Unless I move to BC or the territories I won't be able to shoot any more grizzlys. Thet have closed the season in Alberta, but it hasen't stopped the Indians from shooting them and leaving them to rot.

I give Bartell props for mentioning it. It could have went unsaid with still a great story and equally great pics. Even though knowing their would be someone who would give his expert armchair quarterbacking criticisms he still went ahead and told the whole story.

Good for you buddy!!!

.

Bartell shoots quite often, and he's made longer shots on smaller targets many times. Someone probably needs to spend some more time at the range, but not him. ;)

There's a little more to the story as well if you follow the original thread on the other forums. TB took a backup shot at a moving grizz after the initial shot from another individual, who - as it later turned out - had failed to zero his rifle ahead of time.

Im pretty sure from the hundreds of targets, and shooting data posts on this site, and others Bartell has more trigger time and bullets down range that most do this year.
And just wounding it? Like thats exactly what they intended to do:rolleyes:
Why pack out a head/hide when you can just leave it in the bush?

Maybe they should have asked all the loggers treeplanters and prospectors for directions to the wounded bear, or if they seen him go by, but I guess they forgot that.

BTW, we're not talking about indians, or a closed season, we're talking about two guys with LEH's who had bad luck with a Grizzly with the will to live.

Once again, I think you have an opinion based strictly on jelousy.
as you said, you cant do it again, so critisize others bad luck...

Typical canadian hunter

Tod, I'm pretty surprised that guy would still hang around after being shot. Unbelievable tough animal eh? Good hunting!

Sounds as thou you had an enjoyable but frustrating hunt. Kudos for all your efforts to find the bear, and just think, the next time you "meat" him, he will be even bigger. :D

Cheers
