I was at the range tonight playing around it was cloudy gusty wind and warm so I sighted in at 100 took afew shots at 300m then shot my last 4 at 685 yds [615m].
There are 3 of them in a little less than 2" one about 3 1/2" up I think I might have had the rear bag to close to the back of the pistol grip and it hit on that shot not sure.

When I was letting the shot go off I had enough time to pick up the target in the scope and see the bullet hit the bank and a small cloud of dust.

I recovered one of the bullets after going through a 3/4" plywood backstop and about 3 inches in the berm , not much damage as you can see in the pic.

Care to share some info about the rifle?

How do you like the 22br? When I rebarrel my 204ruger I want to chamber it in 20br or maybe 22br.

The rifle is an older tikka m55 I accurized the action and installed a gaillard LV contour 1-14 26" barrel and bedded the original stock.

This is not a target gun but rather one of my varmint guns, when there is no wind at this range [685 yds] I can hold it in less than 2" if I do my part.

The barrel has close to 2000 rds through it and at 100yds will still hold 1/4" groups and better,I think the 22 br is a great accurate little cartrige cheap to load and accuracy to boot with the same speeds as a 22-250 .

By the way the bullets I was shooting are sierra 53gr hp mk.

I use 30gr of h322 cci br4 primers behind a 53gr smk hp I should note the bc on these bullets is only like 220 G1 not a long range bullet by all means.

The picture of the target I provided is only to show what a 22br is capable of at these long ranges with a low bc bullet ,the bullet was only going about 1100 fps maybe when it hit the target.

With a varmint bullet in the 55gr range the 22br is effective out to maybe 500 yds ,after that it runs out of steam with these light bullets.

My plan is to build a 22br with a 1-8 twist and shoot the 80gr bullets it should be very efficent out to 1000 yds IMO.
I will be heading to the range this afternoon if the rain stops and will post targets at different ranges to compare.
 
i think the 22 br with a 1 in 8 twist shooting the 90g bullets would make a really good 300 to 600 open fclass rifle it out does the 6 br ballisticly dont know why its not more popular.

+1 Darin. I think I'd go 7.5 to cover my ass though. Having said that, we KNOW that the 6 br works for short to midrange...
 
I shot this 22 br in gagetown last season in f open and actually did good with it but it was a relatively calm day .
I shot one of my relays scoring 10 v bulls and ended up the day with 198 28 vbulls.

This is what I will shoot tomorrow if I make it out.
