Thought I'd show you my recent kill with my 22 mag called him in with a PC2 while actually trying to draw in some yotes I heard howling across the lake. He caught wind of me at 40 yds, turned and bolted straight away from me took him in the back of the melon at about 70 yds on a dead run. Nobody else around to take pic so I couldn't get one of me/gun/fox so here he is. It was a rainy day, beautiful winter coat on him. I cased him out and did my first tanning job ever turned out great real soft, looks good on the cottage wall. Ironically he's now hanging on the wall a mere 100 yds from where I shot him.

I'll get a pic next time I'm out at the lake. After skinning out, I used removed as much fat as possible from the hide, salted it with a box of table salt. Let it sit a day, shake off-dump out old salt, re-salt again w/box of table salt overnight rub it in real good. Shake it off again wash in salt bath for 20 min or so....all done with hide inside out. I then turned it out and washed it with dish soap/laundry detergent to clean fur and further degrease hide. I hung till semi-dry but still moist and applied 1/2 bottle of "Trapper's" hide tanning formula to it, again turned inside out. Once applied, turned fur side out for day and half (after 24 hrs. stretched hide by hand). Then turned inside out and let it hang another day and half to dry fully. Stretched by hand again, combed fur, hung on wall. I took a little time and effort but turned out real nice!

Went out to the lake today here's a pic of the hide, I removed the front legs but left the back ones on, kinda fudged the ears as it was first time casing out anything. PS if you look real close you can see the exit hole between his eyes and nose.
