My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

I had a CIL Anschutz Model 310 last year but sold it and soon wished I hadn't. A few weeks ago I found one at a gun show for a good price. It was made in 1965. I refinished the stock and put a new scope on it. For a lightweight sporter, it can shoot.

Groups from left to right: 0.421, 0.403, 0.301, 0.480, 0.496"
Average group size: 0.420"
Rifle: CIL Anschutz Model 310
Scope: Hawke Vantage 6-24
Ammo: SK Standard Plus
Distance: 57 yards
Added again. Nice shooting.

For your consideration

Some rootin' tootin' good shootin' there Dave. You may have missed it though, the requirement now is to show the largest group with calipers. Just a friendly reminder to all for future posting :)

******rule change******

***all posts from now on must show the calipers with the largest group to verify group size***

Congratulations. That is impressive shooting. And the rest is something, too. Is it possible to get them in Canada at this time?

there is no canada distributor for the rest at this time, Ernie Bishop in the states is the go to guy for canadian orders

That is some good shooting. I added you to the successful list.

I got this rifle off the EE last winter. I felt that it should be relatively easy to qualify with it on this challenge. But no luck over a month of weekends trying. It was bedded by a previous owner, and the job looks good. Reflecting on a thread elsewhere on this forum describing similar shooting results , it occurred to me that the action screw torque might be part of the problem. I checked the forward action screw and it appeared to be too long. I shortened it this morning and now it can be torqued more than the almost 20 inch pounds it previously allowed, which was not enough.

The rifle is a Krico, but I'm uncertain as to exactly which model. It has the stock of a Krico 330S, but its barrel is 23.5" long rather than the 330S's 25.5". The 330S also has a 2" extension-like piece on the end of the barrel for mounting a globe sight, this one does not.

The scope is a Sightron SII 36X, while the ammo was SK Rifle Match.

Groups from left to right: .496, .490, .328, .228, .218 inches. Average size: .352 inches.

Great shooting as always Glenn.I came close myself today with the KKJ-T but was fighting the wind all day and poor set up.I'll have the results up in another thread

That is the first Krico on the list. Probably the last as well. Nice shooting.

Any thoughts on having an honorable mention section in the successful list for targets that all the groups are under .250"? You could reattempt with guns that have already successfully completed the challenge, but they would not be added to the successful list again, only the 1/4" honourable mention list. If you were re-attempting with an already successful gun, you would have to state that in your post.

Why not just record the average group size on the successful list and allow people to upgrade their score? So if I shot a successful challenge in Jan (ie: .350" average group size) and I shoot a better score in June (ie: .230" average) with the same rifle, all you need to do is erase the previous score and substitute the new one. This is basically how the 50 yard 1/2" game on RFC works. Of course you could also record the smallest and or largest group size info as well if desired.

for example, the last 2 entries would be:

Yodave----------------------------------Swindlehurst...........0.247"
Grauhanen-----------------------------Krico.......................0.352"

I dig it, I was darn close yesterday while tuner testing my XXII with SK Rifle Match. Snipped the last bull from target page 1 and pasted it in with target page 2 to show groups in the order shot once I found the right setting. 4/7 under 1/4", not too shabby for a factory sporter :) Tom E Gun, it might be a bit too much work to go back and post all the group averages for everyone on the list, and would the upgrade only qualify if better than 1/4", or would you want it just better than previously shot? Honorable mention might be easiest to implement. I know there are a few shooters out there that would be up to the extra challenge ;)

This is an excellent idea. Many shooters might be encouraged to practice a little more and attempt the honourable mention list.
