My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

Thanks iain.quayle for the review of the Lithgow Arms LA 101.

I almost purchased a stainless one a couple months ago, but hesitated given the price and the unknown performance of them.

BTW, your photos are not showing for me. Just a bar symbol.

@cdill Thanks for the heads up. changed some things so hopefully it works now.

If you see an unused one for a good price I would suggest getting it, but seeing all the other things out there right now...
It really is a good rifle and I enjoy it a bunch but you have to be willing to tear it all apart which you shouldn't really need to at this price point.

Great shooting, all you rimfire aficionados!!
Weather here this late winter has been atrocious, so I have not been out a lot.
However, got a new lot of Eley Match EPS that is showing a lot of promise.
As soon as the weather co-operates, I'll be submitting some new targets, sans
extra holes in them, lol. Dave.

Out testing the new bedding job and it seemed to be shooting well, so thought I'd give her a try. Barely squeezed in with the last group. The action and chamber were getting rather goopy, will see if it can push out more comfortable performances after a light clean.
Temp was just above 0, no noticeable breeze.
Using Eley match.
The rifle is the Lithgow Arms LA 101, the optic is a Cabelas 6-24x50 FFP. Harris bipod, ghetto rice filled bag for the rear.

For those interested in the rifle
Pros: accurate enough, 2 action screws, stock ergonomics, proper bolt handle placement, crisp trigger, no one at the range knows what it is.
Cons: if you get the wooden stock version you need to bed it and open up the barrel channel likely, feeding the flat nose match round with a full mag will jam, the trigger is near impossible to work on and comes a 3lbs ish, costs the same as an entry level annie, and the non laminated wood is rather soft.

Great shooting. I added you to the successful list.

Don't mean to be a spoilsport, but that's not a successful attempt by a long shot. You can see in the pic of the "0.49"" group, that it is not measured at the widest point of the group. There is at least a full bullet width extra to that group, making it closer to 3/4". Stated group sizes of the other groups are also very questionable and possibly go over 1/2" as well.

You realize that one of those dots in each case is NOT a bullet hole, but a black marker for an aiming point. Dave.

There is a black dot on the target I assume was the aiming point, are you confusing that with a bullet hole?

*Edit: Eagleye beat me to it. Man I am slow at typing on my phone. Lol.

The drawing technique is very impressive! Those aiming dots look quite similar to bullet holes:).
By the way, the points of impact were definitely consistent.

Ah heck, that's what I get for looking on my phone. I zoom in and you're right, I mistook the black marks for bullet holes. My bad, good shooting!

I actually picked up some little round stickers from Staples that are used for file marking. They are just slightly larger than a 22 hole and make great aiming points. I purchased the dark blue ones which look black in the scope. They did not have black ones in stock.

I can never get marker aiming points to look round enough to suit me or of a consistent size. I am not nearly as good at drawing them as the shooter in this case. :) Perhaps getting to darn old!

I do the same, but I find the red dots are easier to center the crosshairs on. This target I made the black squares 1”x 1” and the dots are 5/8” round. I use the square to line up my crosshairs perfectly from shot to shot.

So after talking about this for awhile during drizzly weather finally got out to do some shooting, and my wife thought she beat me to it.

Sorry, but only five, five shoot groups on a target. Fine I'll do it next time out she says, and she did.
First group was better than the official entry, but still in.

Had some fun with the Rem 40XB made in 1965. No mods to this gun. It's as it came from factory and previous owner. Sightron 36X
Surprisingly, Lapua Center-X and Midas+ didn't do as good as SK Rifle Match. Lot's of .2's and .3's with Center-X, but one flyer ruined the string. Midas+ really only grouped in the .5's consistently. I'm hoping a pillar bedding job and fresh crown will improve accuracy.
The caliper was zeroed to .223"

Today was the first time this year I was able to drive to the shooting range. Earlier this week the front gate wouldn't unlock, and I could only take a light rifle on a bipod with me on the walk to the shooting area. Today I was able to get myself and my gear all the way there.

I shot a new-to-me Anschutz 1409. It is a 1967 vintage.

The results weren't stellar but this rifle shows promise of better things. The distance was 57 yards.

Left to right: .358, .362, .248, .282, .373 Average: .325"

Left to right: .479, .458, .207, .434, .220 Average: .360"

Left to right: .484, .458, .299, .287, .425 Average: .391"

The scope is a Bausch and Lomb 36X. The ammo was Center X. The distance was 57 yards.
