Well here it is, my Ruger with a new Boyds Laminated stock. Still have to bed the stock and install a better recoil pad , but thought I would post some pictures for you guys to look at.
Enjoy.

Alaskan with Boyds stock??

What was wrong with the Hogue Rubber stock it came with??
Just curious/..I just bought one in 416 ruger and have yet to get it working. Had to be sent to warranty facility as it will not feed the ammo Hornady makes for it! Two rifles same thing!! Great for a dangerous game combo??!!

THe Boyds does look good though!!!

Some people think they're too grabby and can hang up on clothes during the mount. Phil Shoemaker said as much a few months back and after pawing one over at the SCI show I would agree. He replaced the Hogue stock on his Alaskans with stock Ruger African wood stocks and they were much more to his liking.

my 375 Ruger Alaskan

Nice rig,I'm thinking of getting one also and have the same scope as yours. Is that the original hight rings that came with the gun and is there a rust protected coating over the matt stainless,I know the black model has the coating but not sure of the grey model. Thanks

Awesome, I want one very much like your set up! What is the total weight?

Approx 8-8.5lbs according to my fishing scales

How much did that beautiful stock set you back? What does it take to bed it?

About $270 to my door. I bought it from Corlanes Sports in BC. I think I will use Devcon titanium to bed it. Boyds replied to a email stating that it would be a good idea to bed this particular caliber. So I am doing some research right now on the "How To" because it will be going to be my first bedding job.

I do believe that my gun is just plain stainless. I think only the blued Alaskan has some sort of coating. The rings are what the gun came with and seem to work well.

This is one of my favorite guns, the only real way I felt to "upgrade" the rifle was to replace the stock. I like the look and feel of wood/laminate so that's why I went the Boyds stock route. Otherwise my second option was a Mcmillan which is a awesome stock. We'll see how this one works out.
Thanks for all the comments:D

That is all I did to mine...SLapped a Macmillan stock on it and had Guntech smooth out the trigger. Then I worked the action with some JB past to smooth it out a bit.

It already comes with sturdy serviceable open sights, detachable rings, and it is accurate right out of the box. No need to #### around with it further!:)

Oh Oh, Camp Cook is going to be verrrry jealous. Nice rig, love the grey lam and stainless.

It is definately the best looking RH Ruger I have seen in a 375 Ruger but I just picked up a Rem 700 LSS (s/s black/gray laminate stock) in 375RUM and have started buying a few things to get it converted over to be the ultimate 375 defense/hunting rifle it will look close to this one which looks pretty good.

So I'll say it this way close but it is still just a Ruger cartridge and it isn't a RUM... :p

What load are you using and how does it shoot? Sure looks purdy..

Currently I shoot factory 270gr but have all the stuff to reload for it, I am finishing the basement & trying to get my gun room completed so I can move all my stuff in and start loading again. Best for me yet is 1.5" at 100yds. I want to load up some 260gr Accubonds for it and try those out.

So it really only weighs 7lbs.

Oh crap your on to me:eek: Unfortunately they are just an old style spring scale. I think Gatehouse's Ruger might be a little lighter than mine so I will say mine is 8.5lbs.

Camp Cook I am sure that 375RUM will be on hell of a gun once your done with it. Please post pics with your ongoing project, looks like it will be a good one.

While 1.5" groups at 100 yards is certainly acceptable for a hunting rifle (back int he day a 2MOA hunting rifle was considered accurate!) you should find your group size shrink once you handload. The factory Hornady ammo I tried produced about the same accuracy from my rifle, but 270gr TSX, 260gr AB, 300gr AB all produce cloverleaf groups for me. I've found the .375 Ruger ridiculously easy to work up a load for...:)

Here is a picture of my load work up and a group fired wiht the 270gr TSX.

As you can see, on the top we have 6 shots, all with different powder charges. The last 4 powder charges are clustered into a group about 1" or a little less. The lower 3 shot group using 83.5gr H 4350 is under an inch. Load development with 9 shots and one paper target!:p

It's great to see more and more shooters recognizing the appeal of the .375 Ruger and the rifles it is housed in. They seem to be selling quite well, most likely matching (or quite a bit more) sales of .375 H&H chambered rifles. I am sure you will really like your rifle! :)
