Specs:

Receiver: 870 Tactical Magnum with: 870P trigger group, 870P long mag spring, S&J hi vis follower, swivel mag cap, Mesa Tac 6 shell side saddle and Mesa Picatinny rail.

BBLs:

20" smooth bore with pedestal bead and fixed IC. I think I might like to replace this with a 20 inch with rifle sights and remchokes/breeching choke (not that I have anything to breach). Also have a mag extension, spring and clamp. Does 4-5 inch groups with cheap slugs and the Scope at 50 M.

14" HP9 treaded for Tru Chokes and pedestal bead. Patterns awesome with #2 birdshot and #1 Buck through the Mod. 10 metres with #2 Birdshot had al rounds inside a large paper plate. No slugs yet, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this bbl.

Stocks:

Fixed: I ditched the speedfeed and replaced it with a express synth stock.

Adjustable: CAA AR style. I got it for free and need to decide what to do with it. It has a junk plastic rail, and a hockey puck hard recoil pad. The advantages are: The adaptor fits well and the stock tube is solid and can be removed with two screws (the allen wrench fits in the butt), and there are loads of sling attach points. Should I sell the whole thing and buy another adaptor, or dremel off the crap rail?

Forend:

CAA with full length 6 o'clock rail and two detachable side rails. Ergo textured rail protector. Troy battle grip for use on the forend. (had a cadex folder but it broke) I'm loving the CAA forend (not the least of why is it was free). It feels great, fits perfect and is a blast to shoot with the vertical grip or without.

As cool as the pistol grip on the back end is, I'm prefering the simplicity of the fixed stock.

Scope:

Aimpoint T1 Micro with low QD mount.

Light:

Surefire scout with tape switch velcro mounted.

Slings:

Fixed stock old style CF C7 sling with HD uncle mikes swivels, and for the adjustable stock a vickers single point.

Everything including ammo and an Otis shotgun cleaning kit fits in my soft case for playtime.

Not an MCS, but works for now.

Not bad... I like the foregrip. I was noticing the "anti-slip" patterning on it... pretty neat.

As far as the CAA stock goes, I say put it on and try it out. If you like how it handles (ignore the rail and rock-hard recoil pad), then sell it and get yourself a good stock of the same variety. If you don't like it, sell it and stick with the original stock. Still, I don't know how good CAA is... if they're a company known for making good products, then a recoil pad change and getting rid of the rail will be far cheaper than buying a new (or used) Knoxx stock. Someone else might have a better idea on the value of the CAA stock...

I'm not sure on this, but I'd suggest not shooting anything through the CAA stock initially... just get a feel for how it fits in your hands, and how easy it is to shoulder. If you enjoy that, then take it to the range and test it out. That way, any potential pain from shooting it won't colour your judgement about those stocks. A recoil pad will probably make a huge difference, and it'd be a shame to discount all AR stocks because of a single bad experience.
