Just back from a week-long moose hunt with my buddy Dan and his Dad, Reg and had a great time. I've been pretty fortunate to kill some big moose in the past so I went into this hunt, that I used 10 years of priority to draw, with the decision that I was going to hold out for a really big bull or just take a small meat bull. Well, after a week of looking, my path never crossed with the moose of my dreams so just at last light last afternoon, I decided to take a tasty youngster for the freezer. The fact that we could drive the truck right to him afterward was what sealed the deal...lol We saw close to 100 moose during the week, I passed up a ton of good bulls, Dan took a really good bull and I got to share some time in the field with good friends. While the success of this hunt can't be measured in inches of horn, it can be measured in great memories.

Right on, and good eating. I've seen a few so far but not one that I wanted to shoot. We have lots of moose in Alberta this year.

Ya some of the prairie zones in Alberta have crazy numbers of moose. On a sadder note, we saw twice as many moose as we did deer. It's looking pretty grim out there.

Well done. As for the moose vs deer count, certain parts of MB are in the same boat unfortunately both numbers are wayyyyy lower than 100 in a week.

Saskatchewan too. I have probably seen as many Mosse while scouting waterfowl this year as deer. Deer numbers are WAY down in my neck of the woods. Congrats on a couple nice Moose!

Congrats on the moose. That is a beauty. I spent a number of days elk hunting this year as well as some time just working in the bush and I saw more moose and elk than deer. Deer are really thin in numbers all over.

CONGRATS !! Sweet bulls.

I have a friend that left yesterday morning for 1 week with 3 of his friends for moose. I will be taking Monday off to go spend the day with them. I have an undersubscribed tag as well but wont hunt it that day as they are out looking for meat for their families and we had a successful October moose hunt with my group of friends.
