I picked some of this up last weekend, and since there is a shortage of this caliber these days I thought I'd give it a try.

From today's shoot at the range using my Chinese SKS.

Pros:
- Very nice reload able brass, single flash hole.
- Non-corrosive primers.
- Clean ammo.
- Solid milspec primers, no slam-fires in my SKS.
- IMHO Very Accurate, I was hitting a 200 yard steel Ram 4 out of 5 times
while shooting off hand, and 1/2" groups at 50 yards.
- Fits, and works nicely on milsurp charging clips.

- Very Snappy, I don't own a chrony, but I suspect this is a hotter load then
milsurp. Also it seemed to have a diffrent for lack of a better word "power
pulse" then the other stuff I have been using...More like pistol ammo.

Cons:
- Expensive, averages out to about $14 for a box of 20 from the store I got it from.
- Does not come with charging clips.
- Gives off a very slight ammonia smell during use.
- Addictive to shoot.
- If you reload it may turn you into a brass whore and have you spending allot of time looking for the spent brass. :D

Overall IMHO this is good ammo if you want a quick plink session without having to tear down your SKS for heavy cleaning afterwards, as is the case with corrosive milsurp ammo.

It may also be a nice option for the lucky ones with the higher quality 7.62x39 bolt action rifles, like the Cz's and Rugars who are looking for quality, and cleanliness over the milsurp stuff.

Yah I have also been using their 9mm stuff in my Tokarev pistol, and it is also nice.

I also see they have some neat looking .45 acp hollow point out, but I don't have a .45 yet. :D

Italian stuff is rarely cheap. :(

but the people sure are!
ohhhhhhhh

buh dum, CHaa!

...wait that wasn't clever at all..

i need some 7.62X39 for my 858!
if I get a range trip happening soon I might have to splurge a bit on some good brand.. however it'll be alright as I won't need to buy any ammo for my other guns..been stockpiling for about a thousand years.

Hmmm I thought is was Italian as well. Thanks for the review Calum I have used the 9mm Fiocchi and liked it. Can't wait to try their bigger stuff!

Fiocchi is an Italian company, with plants also in Hungary, and US. Much of the ammo we see in NA is made in Hungary, sometimes loaded in the US. That box looks like the European box. Either way it should be good.

So does the Italian made stuff just wander around Europe? Or does it have specific price points for the same stuff made?

I'm getting more and more confused by each question I ask...hahaha

Looks like they have come out with some Hornday loaded hunting ammo as well, and also in 7.62x39. :)

As far as the 45 Fiocchi HP's go, they're great.Excellent function and very accurate, and, well what's not to like about a 230 grain hollowpoint? All the Fiocchi I've tried was good stuff.
