You would have been better off with a sig shorty

Thats what I said when I finished my AR15....

Nice rifle, without a wide angle shot of the rifle the pics are useless. Really cannot judge the rifle that well.

In a way, I dont really think I like it.

Maby its the light blue buffer tube, and the single point adapter looks pout of place ( smaller one would look better ), same with what ever that is on the left side forward on the RAS with the ladderl cover.

Gunkote the upper/lower reciever with OD green and that would look super sweet. Just tooooo many different shades of blue and black.

BTW gonna hate the ambi mag release.

Well I like it. It's built with all good parts and most important, he made it to his own personal taste.
One Question Pave, how did you swing all the cash? paper route?

Pave, nice setup, but I noticed that you have the KNS antiwalk pins, or whatever they call them. Do you find the pins walk out on you otherwise? or are you worried about the wear on the lower from rotation?
The way the original design is, the pins should never come out, and the rotation of the pins in the lower (if they actually rotate) should take a really long time to actually wear the hole larger, given that the ID of the holes are anodized - aluminum oxide is a lot more wear resistant than even hardened steel pins.
Not questioning your build, just curious about your reasoning.

Ahab.

I installed KNS pins on my AR15. My pins on my trigger mech was walking out and no matter what I did, they kept on walking out.

Do you find Brad that your trigger is real heavy?

Problem with AR's is there crappy resale value. To upgrade an AR to this level you have to be ready to never see your money again.

I'll buy it in a couple of years, I'll pay asking price, I got his M14S shorty. Pavehammer is young, he likes the best.

Ahab:

I got the pins because I saw them on a rifle on Arfcom. I think they look ####ing awesome! Kind of the answer to a question that I hadn't needed to ask yet, but ohwells!

Robert:

Trigger feels just like any AR trigger. Perhaps you've tightened the pins a bit too much, and it's squishing the lower just the tiniest bit?

Scarecrow/Mr. Cam:

The problem with the AR15 rifle is that it doesn't go out of style. I don't think I'll ever end up completely selling the rifle, just bits to fund newer bits. Sorry, Cam, you might be out of luck. I think the XCR is ugly, and that's the only thing that even runs a chance of replacing the AR in most people's minds.

Nope pave it was allways heavy.

Nice rig Pave, you've got a great setup and if after you shoot the crap out of it and don't like something you could always unwind it and go with something else.

Ray

Nice build.

Needs a Larue EOTECH mount though

I admonished Robert McC earlier to move his vert grip out further - as the further out you move it the more care and control you gain - try it - you might like it (I' just keep moving mine out further and further...)

Kevin,

As I told Robert on MSN, I've got a reason for having the grip that close in. On short barrelled rifles and lighter carbine length rifles, I always used a "Magwell" grip (IE: Hand wrapped around the magwell). With the longer barrel and the heavier profile, I've moved the grip to a sort of balance point on the rifle, where I can replicate the same sort of grip: very high on the grip, index finger just ahead of the middle finger, resting on the rail cover itself.

I'll give it a try, though. I'm always open for trying new things!
