My AR started Jamming today (?)

I havent had the AR out much lately so I took it out today, one HBar Upper and one 14.5". Armalite lower, full stock; factory buffer. I only took new Remington .55gr and some old Norinco .223 ammo out and half way thru the 2nd box of Norinco I got a jam. My first in 2 years. So I dropped the mag and the round fell out the mag hole because it never made it into the chamber. The really odd part is that it pushed the projectile back into the brass.:(

Ok, tap the mag, shoot one round, second round jams same thing. (odd) THen I checked the chamber, emptied the mag and found the follower was stuck. (ok, dirty mag) put that mag aside, loaded up a different mag, same Norc ammo. Bang-Jam.

Ok, so WTF? I took the 20" upper off, put the 14.5" upper on ran10 rounds of Remington thru, no problem. Second shot on the Norc and it pushed the projectile back into the brass. Dropped the mag and all the bullets fell straight out of the mag.

So Either Ive got two buggered mag followers (?) or the Norc Bullets arent crimped properly:confused:. Any old timers run into this? ( ammo is from the 80's) Ive never had any problems running the Norc ammo thru my Tavor or my old Norc M-4, but this is happening with my Armalite. Obviously now Im too paranoid to run it in my Tavor. Im hoping its a common jam from bum mag followers; but cant seem to find any answers online.

Bad Norinco stock from the 80's isn't unheard of.
Once had vintage Norinco M43 ammo that you could see the bullets moving downrange (200 yards) prior to hitting the general area I was aiming at.

Had the entire line watching as the rounds rainbowed their way to the target butt.

Had 10 boxes and only 1 box ended up doing this. The others were fine.

I would suggest trying to isolate the problem. Meaning is the ammo or is the rifle or the magazine?

Try different ammo in both uppers.
Try a different magazine in both of the uppers.
Check to see if your gas "key" is tight on the bolt carrier.

The only time that I've had rounds stuck in the magazine is when I've had the overall length too long on my reloads. They couldn't properly rise up in the magazine causing problems.

Good Luck
