My Archangel Nomad review

I have fired a couple thousand rounds out of mine since i got it in december, zero issues. Although that extra mag i bought off you Dave is kinda weird. The ammo goes into the mag way easier than the one that came with the kit and not all the bullets stay under the lip spring they want to aim up and this causes ftf sometimes. heard of any issues like that? BTW hope all is well with the family

I assembled a sling today. Sorry for the rubbish photos.

Components:

  • 511 Tactical two-point padded sling
  • Maxpedition retaining clip (removed strap)
  • 1" QD mount adapter

I prefer the simplicity of the Blue Force adjustable sling I mounted on my shotgun, but I'm sure I'll come to appreciate the padding on this one when doing long treks in the woods. Hoping the polymer loops in the front are properly load bearing.

Just thought id add a different experience to this thread for those reading and thinking about this kit. I just installed my kit on my base model 10/22 carbine and it went in PERFECT. My stock sights on popped right off the barrel with almost no effort, the receiver went into the new stock with just a slight tap on the top to lock it down. Absolutely no hammering or pounding at all.

All the screws lined up perfectly, no gaps in the plastic anywhere... it looks like it was assembled in a factory.

Hate the mags though, it is SO hard to get the rounds in my thumb got sore. I loaded 2 promag mags, then 3 BC mags and the BC steel lips are so much nicer. Havent had a chance to fire the gun yet. But it FEELS so good in my hands.

Shot off another 100 rounds today with mixed results yet again.

Two full magazines went perfect. Then I had repeated failures to eject/feed with the following two. Sigh. I reloaded all 4 mags with 10 rounds and had no issues. So still not sure what the root of the issue is. I need to mark my mags with nail polish or paint so I can see if there are any specific trouble mags.

Couple other issues: I found that the bolt would sometimes release forward prematurely while inserting a magazine. And there's some plastic at the front feed area of the promags that I'm not sure is flashing or not, but it sure does look like it should be removed.

All in all I'm not thrilled with the overall performance of this kit, but I'm hoping it stabilizes with break in.
