Okay, So my build is half complete.

Feels much more solid than i thought it would, Actually fit quite nice. I've felt a lot of other kits, this one feels surprisingly well built and fairly heavy, not as bad as the SR22 though.
Theres two minuses I have found with this kit which are livable I guess.

First is the mag release area, The 10/22 action i got for the donor was a 90's baby so metal trigger guard with the flat mag release. I had an extended polymer release kickin around from a previous project so i slapped it in, along with the auto bolt release mod. Well the release was too long for the cut out in the stock and I had two choices, pull the whole thing back apart to get the factory 10 rounder out or cut the release shorter, i chose the later option as i didnt wanna go back to the flat release for usability reasons, so that is shown here.

The other minus to the kit is the fore end, which ONLY will accept ATI rail sections, and by that I mean thats what they want you to use, I had an old rail section kicking around from a previous project aswell, while i was able to find two holes that line up the holes on the rail are placed in funny sections, and i have not been able to find any screws that work with the factory threaded holes yet. if i could find these screws it wouldnt be a problem using the magpul rail section other than that they dont have the grooe cut into the back side theyll just sit a little further away from the rail, of course a guy could drill out the holes and use nuts on the inside and that would work too.

I have an ATI rail section on the way from Dominion outdoors, which is where I purchased this kit (lowest price in Canada btw ;)) So when that comes in I can mount my Fab Defense angled FG, As well Im waiting on my Fab Defense BUS's from Zahal.org. Other than that I have my vortex mounted in a High profile UTG base, And some Buttler creek mags on the way from another user.

I installed a SR22 barrel as I couldnt stand the look of nearly 5 or so inches of factory barrel sticking out the front end, lol

Lets get to the pics.

Its windy as all HELL here today, but i'm hoping to get out and put a few rounds through it and get my scope close to zero'd. and see how she handles.

Feel free to post any input, or Questions. I'll try to answer the best I can.

That is a nice looking chassis. I am not at all familiar with it, so I have a few questions:

Does the deep magwell make it difficult to insert or extract the 10 round mags and does it limit you as to what type of 25 round mags will fit?
How difficult and or time consuming is it to remove the chassis for cleaning and maintenance of the receiver/bolt/trigger group?
If you wanted to run a shorter barrel, do you think it would be possible to remove the spiked front Hand Guard end, cut the HG and reinstall the spiked end?
Thanks

She looks amazing Bud!!! Few questions

Can I fit my M22 receiver in there? Is it a tight fit, my receiver is 1mm larger than the ruger
Can it accept other parts like butt stock, handguard etc?

Thanks

Hey there, Valid questions!

The deep mag well doesn't cause too much of a problem with 10 rounders AS LONG AS THEY DROP FREE as mine does. I've played with it a bit and it almost seems like common nature to just use your thumb to lock the mag into place inside the action. However if mags do not drop free there is still enough space to get your finger in there to pull the mag out but it just seems like that would be a bit of a bother.

To disassemble for a thorough cleaning I would say youd need to remove the hex takedown bolt, and the 2 hex bolts out of the top of the kit rail that attach to the mock charging handle clamping the the 2 halfs of the receiver shell together and then slide the hand guard forward and off then take off the grip as that also hold the shells together and then your free to clean away, yeah it does kinds sound like a pain, but all in all only 4 bolts.

As for the mags, I see no reason why the infamous (and my favorite mag so far and has been for years) buttler creeks wont work! (I currently don't have any on hand but have used a million in the past) but am awaiting the arrival of two from a fellow nutter :)
I do have a buddy nearby with the promag aa9-22 or whatever the ar lookin mag is, so i'll be taking a look at that although I hear they wont fit, as they're too wide!

The wind has died down a bit here so I'm hoping to get out and pop off a few rounds today still before the snow comes.

And yes, it is possible to cut down the HG and reinstall the nose cone.

The m22 reciever I am unfamiliar with but I think with a little tinkering it could be done. Butt stock is Commercial spec so as long as you find the same it can definitely be switched out. HG im not too sure about, id have to guess and say no.

And thanks for the compliments on this piece guys. I'm sure loving it so far :)

Hey
I've had no problems with the BC 25rd mags, ran through all four of mine at the range few weeks ago and not one issue besides the ammo but it was cheap ammo so some stove pipes
anyways imo totally better feel then the old ati stock.
unfortunately the snow already fell in my area but not much...will be heading to range probably wed.
great little kit you got though

Well guys..... I'm disappointed!

Attempting to zero at 25 yards, I experienced what someone else was talking about.

Maxed (bottomed out, whichever. Lol) out the elevation in my vortex, still shooting 2 inches low.... I'm trying to get the stock swapped out for a new one,
And if not I'm going to attempt making a barrel block as the sr22 uses from factory. Shouldn't have to do that to get the dang thing to work right though.

I know my optic was mounted properly and solidly, it's the kit, the only possible cause.

Update to follow...

I have no problems using butler creek 25 mags or tactical innovations 25 mags in my AR-22. The magwell comes down lower to look more M-16 like so any magazines with a wider neck will not fit up in it like the HC3R didn't fit because its too wide with its thumb nut feature. I don't like to scrunch my neck down to get a look down my scope so I mounted it on a UTG Medium Profile Riser Mount and it works fine no issues zeroing my scopes. Breaking it down is a little more work true because of a few more screws but after a couple times you get the hang of it and its not an issue. I really like the look of my AR-22 the receiver sits in a clam shell tightly and the barrel is free floating so its more accurate then I figured it would be actually.

Thanks man, mines a vortex 2-7x32 rimfire crossfire II

Here's how she sits currently, looks so good I'm hoping my fix makes it shoot straight!
My "barrel block" is 1x1x3/4" thick puck board sanded with the barrel groove and a hole drilled in the middle with a 10x32 screw through the forend threads to hold it in place. (Yes the forend holes for rails are threaded 10-32 tpi ;))

Ok Guys, so for those of you still following this,

I Received my Far Defense BUS's last week and mounted them, also mounted my Vortex 2-7x again.

Started with the zeroing of the vortex, and it went 100 times better, first shots were already hitting high :) which is good! exact opposite of my last zeroing attempt.
This barrel block I installed worked just as I had intended it to! zero's my scope with no issues! Then proceeded to sight my back up sights. All I had to do was jack the Front sight up a bit and, BAM we were in action!

I Brought with me the two buttler creek mags I purchased from another member here and they worked great after the first mag in each , even in the minus 25 degree weather! I put through about a hundred rounds today (50 on the video ill be posting) and all in all I'm a happy camper!

Also as a side not here, I discovered the threads in the forend are 10-32 and as long as you find rails where the holes will line up you're in business! I've got a magpul MOE stock coming this week and am hoping to get some more pics up. I been lead to believe the stock tube is commercial spec, the MOE i have coming was said to be really loose on a milspec tube so we shall see how that works out!

Stay tuned!

Your AR22 looks great! I've been debating whether to go with an SR22 or get a 10/22 along with the ATI kit. One thing I'm wondering about..with the barrel block you made, would an adjustable V-block have accomplished the same thing?
