Just got my babies back from the shop. My smith was the man who did all of Armament Technology's rifles when they were producing rifles. This guy does awesome work at bargain basement prices. I'll never go to anyone else if everything works out as good as they look. Been waiting anxiously for the work to be completed though it only took a couple months for them both to be completed from start to finish. I'm pleased with the results so far though the real test will be how they shoot of course. Might be a while before I'll be able to break them in some.

Interesting thing is I bought both rifles off the EE here on Gunnutz. As silly as it sounds, I have my heart set on a Sako TRG so the custom .308 Win. might be comming up for sale before I even get a chance to shoot it. I don't know what I'm thinking, I must be nuts. lol.

First stick was based on a stainless Remington 700 SPS. I bought a new 700P take off stock, a M24 contour Mike Rock .308 11.25:1 twsit barrel, recoil lug, proprietary tactical bolt handle, and had the receiver accurized and barrel chambered for .308 Winchester. Finish length on the barrel is 26". Hey, it ain't all that special but it's mine. Going to put TPS base and 30mm rings on it. Haven't yet decided on a scope but the new Bushnell Tactical 4200 6x24x50mm is high on my list and the 6.5x20x50mm Leupold Mk4 M1 is as well.

Second one is just a plain jane ADL synthetic in .223 that I bought second hand NIB from a guy here on the EE. I chopped the barrel to 20" and had it re-crowned, receiver bedded, took the sights off, installed the smith's proprietary tactical bolt handle, and had the trigger lightend to 2.5 lbs. Nice little compact package for a walking varminter. Simple and straight-forward. Thinking of a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40mm for this one or a possibly a Mueller Tac 2 3.5x10x40mm with Burris Signature rings and weaver bases.

I'm diggin' the bolt handle, looks a little more subdued compared to the Badger Ordnance knob. Was this threaded onto the existing handle?

The bolt handle was welded on as far as I know. It's a nice design. I've never seen a Badger knob before so I don't have a basis of comparrison. I'll post another pic of the bolt later on tonight.

I've seen some 600 yard targets shot by people who had their gun built by my smith using the Rock barrel. Impressive potential accuracy. I was going to order a Gaillard barrel but I got the Rock for basically the same price so I went with it. Glad I did!

'S-A' I gather?
Could you tell me roughly what the Rock barrel cost? I'm thinking I need a barrel job, and haven't settled on what brand to get yet.

Yuyp, that's him. I got my barrel from him. Not sure of the individual price as he just gave me a lump sum quote on the total value of the work that I had performed. If you need his contact info, PM me.

My next project will either have a Gaillard or Lawton (if available here in Canada) barrel.

Ok, here's a couple extra pics of the bolt area to give you a better idea of what it's like.

Interesting shape to that knob.

Looks Like Gord Whitman is going to be carrying the Lawton line of barrels and actions.
