My best group ever!

The 783 rifles produce some amazing groups for such a cheap rifle.

This is the bore of a 783 in 223 that is very accurate. Going from memory right now but I shot a 5 shot group of I believe 0.335" at 100 yards sighting it in.

It has no right to be that accurate with a bore like this.

those are advanced bullet stablizing groves

I always felt that a group outta be measured from the center of the bullseye, to the center of the furthest bullet hole from.

During load development, that’s not going to happen. The load that my rifle prefers was found on a development shoot. The group before, shot at a different target was high and right. It was about 3/4”. Then I shot the group I settled on. It was 0.26 MOA (0.28”). I haven’t taken any further pictures because I really have nothing to prove to anyone. A group is a group, point of impact of said group can always be adjusted later.

They used to measure groups with a string. Each shot was measured from center, and the total length of the string that resulted, was how they were compared, so you had to be both accurate, and consistent, to win.
That was shooting offhand, at 200 yards.

As far as groups go, doing it once, makes a swell keepsake.
