Well I bought a Savage Model 12 BR a few months ago. I have been waiting for a while for my Sightron scope to arrive in the mean time I bed the action then made sure to torque the screws to 40 in lbs. I was dying to shoot this thing so I borrowed a set of rings and a Tasco 6-24 varmint scope just so I could at least develop some loads. I used Norma brass, I uniformed the flash holes and deburred them as well as uniformed the pockets. Of course trimmed all to length then sorted by weight + or - 1 grain. This was the first time I tried any good loads in it so I was only loading 3 of each to find the close to sweet spot. I will load 5 of each now that I know where I should be going.
Shooting from 100 Yards
This is the result of a 168g Hornady BTHP seated .008" from lands with 44.6 grains of Varget lit by a CCI BR2 primer.
Measures .410
This one was 44.9 Grain charge I know I pulled the very last shot slightly to the right, I knew as soon as it went off I messed up.
Measures .462
I am very happy to get some groups like this. I will have to move out to 200-300 later to see how they do. But looks like I am going to load 5 of each starting at 44.5 - 45 going up in 1 tenth now.
