So I was browsing in canadian tire with a few friends the other day and noticed some mosin nagants and SVTs as I already have a 1944 ex sniper and a 1942 Svt I went over just to take a look. As I was looking through them for more ex snipers the guy working sports mentions they have a pretty old one out back that they didn't bring out yet. When he brings it out it ends up being an all numbers matching non refurbished Ishevsk from 1938! So I happily buy it, but were just getting started! One of my friends asks me if I could pick him out a SVT since he loves mine so much he wanted his own, there really wasn't anything special except a really beat up Ishevsk, other than this strange 1939 dated Tula with a much longer reciever bridge. So I'm proud to say I ended up finding a converted SVT 38 for around $300 :D The only sad part of this story is that I couldn't steal it from my buddy and he now has it as his only really collectible gun. Needless to say I'm heading back to this canadian tire again

Your SVT appear to be a SVT 38 rebuilt to SVT 40 specifications, the square stamp i a refurb mark. The SVT 38 receiver bridg is longer. Very nice find! More pics please.

Yes it is, sorry if I didn't clarify that. And I'll get my buddy to send some more, I'm kicking myself in the ass because I looked over the longer reciever bridge until after I bought it for him and he paid me back lol. I do have first dibs if he ever wants to get rid of it he says though :)

Man! I wish the Crappy Tires around here carried stuff like that. You can find some that sell firearms but not Milsurps! Not that I can find anyway. Nice score! I should pick up a SVT before they dry up.
