So I was browsing in canadian tire with a few friends the other day and noticed some mosin nagants and SVTs as I already have a 1944 ex sniper and a 1942 Svt I went over just to take a look. As I was looking through them for more ex snipers the guy working sports mentions they have a pretty old one out back that they didn't bring out yet. When he brings it out it ends up being an all numbers matching non refurbished Ishevsk from 1938! So I happily buy it, but were just getting started! One of my friends asks me if I could pick him out a SVT since he loves mine so much he wanted his own, there really wasn't anything special except a really beat up Ishevsk, other than this strange 1939 dated Tula with a much longer reciever bridge. So I'm proud to say I ended up finding a converted SVT 38 for around $300
The only sad part of this story is that I couldn't steal it from my buddy and he now has it as his only really collectible gun. Needless to say I'm heading back to this canadian tire again
