I ordered a Hatsan Escort MP last Thurs. and it arrived today via Canada post.

For those unaware, its a Turkish made tactical shotgun equipped with an adjustable fiber optic front sight and rear ghost sight mounted on a picatinny rail fixed to the top of the receiver and it has a 7-1 shot capacity.

I chose this model in OD green as I found it to be more appealing visually that the run of the mill all black tactical look. (Saving that for my future Magpul 870 or 590)

Its rather light, but I sort of expected that since it has an aluminum receiver and plastic furniture. My other Hatasn is similar in weight so again, no surprise.

The matte black finish is nicely done, and I was glad to see the blacked out Escort name on the receiver's sides as opposed to some that I've seen with silver writing from years prior. This gun is the lastest incarnation of the Escort line and is dated as imported in 2013 by Bell Lifestyle.

Take down is easy, and inspection of the build quality and fit and finish was done first thing. No issues found, everything looks well made. Again, no surprise based on my Optima.

The stock is, OK I guess. I'll have to fire it. I know it will kick hard because my other one did too before upgrading to an ATI.
I'm not changing the stock, but will look into a Limbsaver recoil pad cause this one ain't gonna cut it. But, we'll see.

It also has a heatsheild over the barrel and comes with a large flash hider attached. An aggressive toothed door breacher is also avail. if so inclined. The hider can be removed and you can then attach the supplied thread protector.

It has the two emergency shell holder built in the right side of the stock as well. I'll likely just put a couple of slugs in there and leave them be and keep them for "insurance" lol.
The pistol grip is rubberized, but not really squishy. Comfortable, but also quite large. My hands are average sized, but if you got big mitts, you won't have any issues here.

There is also an integrated picatinny rail under the the forend for gadgets. Not sure it will see much use honestly, as this will be just a fun slug target and clay gun. Although the barrel length might not jive with clays, but the sights sure would I think.

I bought this shotgun from Rouge River Arms for $390. Big thanks to Chris over there. Always top notch and efficient with everything about your order.

OK, pics....
Last one is along side my other Hatsan, Optima Marineguard.

Those hatsan's are fun eh?

I don't mind the pistol grip on the Marine unit either! I took one to the skeet range last weekend:

love my mp! I really dig yours in the green! you wont be hitting any clays unless you toss em by hand close range. kind wish we could choke these badboys but meh it is what it is, a fun, relaible awesome shotgun!

Thanks, yeah your right not much of a clay gun at all, I'll mostly be using it as a blaster tearing up anything thats unlucky enough to be positioned in front of it.
Just took the mag bird plug out, which was tricky cause there is techically no end cap on the tube of this particular model. Just a metal disc insert that you need to shift and play with. That rod shot out pretty fast and unexpectedly! Lol.

Nice Marine TV P!
Never saw a 7-1 version like that. It is that right? Mine's a 20inch, yours a 18.5 or what?

Im that close to purchasing that new green and black MP -

Questions on the pump action:

How is the actual pump action itself? smooth ? needs breaking in ? does the pump handle wobble ?

Balance ? How does it balance with the tube fully loaded?

Combat reloading ? how well does it work for this pump ?

Load out shot to slug changes ? How ergo is this shotgun to be able to do this while under a clock?

If I missed anything else please add more imput !

Thanxs

The pump is smooth out of the box and no forend wobble on mine.

The balance is fine, I put 8 shells in it and noticed a bit of a weight transfer, but not something I would call front heavy at all.

I have no competition knowledge, and did not buy this gun for that purpose. So can't comment on that aspect.

Any idea where I would be able to find a non-pistol grip stock and a foregrip that doesnt overlap the main receiver? I would like to be able to use a side saddle.

It is a good idea to remove the screws that are used to mount the top rail and place a small amount of blue loctight on them. There are a few threads on here about them coming loose and falling out. Other then those tiny screws potentiality coming loose there should be no worries...I had the TS version and enjoyed shooting it.

Hey thanks, will do. I've also heard of the heatsheild sometimes crimping/bending under stress near the muzzle. So I'm going to watch for that too. I haven't heard great things in general about most heatsheilds though, so not really an issue for me cause it can be just pulled off if need be.
