My bolt just bit the dust *FIXED*

I was out shooting my M305 yesterday and shot about 10 rounds before she gave out. On the last round I pulled the trigger and nothing happened. Opened the bolt and all the bits and peices were missing off the end. My extractor was gone and the springs and bits that hold the rest together are gone. Also that round thing that protrudes and presses the back of the case is gone and so is it's spring. The bolt looks ok, but I would rather just buy a good one to replace. Anyone know where I can find a new bolt in Canada?

The only time I ever experienced this was with a TRW M14 at an ORA Service Rifle match back in 1993, the cartridge was fed from the magazine and as the goofy/slow/retarded/wonky (insert some adjective) cycle pushed forward the rear base/rim of the cartridge popped upward and pried the extractor loose. I lost all the little parts. :eek:

I had my "Oh Shzt!" kit in my shooting rucksack and had that bolt assembled before match 6 the 300 yard Snap match.

At least the shoulder thing that flips up didn't come off as well :)

Pretty sure thats just the wikipedia on 'ejector'
 
Something pretty similar just happened to me as well. I had the bolt locked back, I rocked in a fresh mag, then released the bolt and off pops the extractor. It actually flew several meters downrange. The ejector was gone but the spring was still there, and then out drops the firing pin.
So now I have an M14 with a non functional bolt, and I just checked Armtac, they're out of stock on both bolts and bolt parts kits. Good thing I got other guns, otherwise I'd be a lot more pissed than I actually am. Think I'm gonna go for a whole new USGI spec bolt whenever they come back in stock. Or if anyone knows where else I can get one in the Calgary area, I'm all ears.
 
Thanks for the help guys and sorry for the not so technical talk... Lol. Do I need special tools to put the boat together if I buy new parts? Just wondering if I should wait for a complete assembly to be in stock.
 
A replacement bolt may or may not need fitting. Unknown until it is in your hands.
Just replace the missing parts.
There are tools, but a cartridge case can be used. Hold the bolt in a vise while assembling it.
 
Oh man to bad this didn't happen last week. Just flew down from Ft Mac could have brought the stuff to help you out. Darn it all. You can always go buy another rifle and keep shooting. I have found out that one is none and two is one. So yoy can always depend on having one running. Grab the parts off of the EE when they show up. :)
 
I bought a bolt disassembly tool and it works great , I've heard too many horror stories about putting these bolts back together :HR:

Got mine off of ebay. Is good for M1 Garand,M14/M1A, M1Carbine. Its one of the "gotta haves" if you have to work on these bolts. Ya there are other ways but these save time and lost parts and the " O fart" moment
 
I am almost 100% that the garand bolt parts would work just fine. It doesn't matter if its Chinese or usgi bolt have spares at hand can happen to either.
