I've found a new T3 lite in stainless for $750 taxes in, shipped , boxing day only

I've finally tracked down a used (6 yrs, 100 rds, T3 Lite S/S with a mounted bushnell e3200 3x9x40 for $750 plus shipping (original receipt for $1300)

I had wanted a leupold but reading up on the bushnell it sounds OK

I have budgeted $700 for a used rifle so I'm already over with both choices and choice #1 leaves me scopeless but with time to find one

With choice #2 I won't get a chance to see the used gun in person, just pictures

thoughts? suggestions?

I'd go for the used package. I have been really satisfied with the elite scopes. Not the best quality out there, but probably the best for the price you pay.

If you have the funds for a new Leupold, get the new rifle and buy the Leupold. I give the Leupold the edge on reliability, quality of warranty service and resale value.

personally I find the elite 3200 are better than the VX-1, more comparable to the VX-2, the elite 4200 is comparable to the VX-3. Some people may argue this last point, but I definitely think the elite 3200 is better than a VX-1

I think you can't go wrong with either, unless the used rifle or scope has some problem with it. If there's plenty of time until you take it hunting, you will have opportunity to sort it out.

Just because I gun is 6 years old and if it was taken out hunting I few times I would buy the used gun. Don't forget bases and rings which will cost you at least 100 bucks and if the used one has opti rings like 200. Buy used.

Nothing quitte like being the first person to shoot it. 750 is decent price for stainless too. Nice choice of cartridge too!

I threw some weaver mounts on mine, didn't like the opitilock ring system myself.
