Well after much reading & training I took my son for his first day out to shoot his Henry Minibolt 22LR. We did this in a random fashion at a local pasture with dirt piles & Gophers to shoot at. After showing me that he was capable to excercise safety, handling, Loading, unloading & some dry firing of the minibolt I requested him to load it again and told him to shoot at a random dirtpile that had some backstop about 25yds away, with much anticipation he slowly pulled the trigger & fired his first round hitting not too far off target, after about 30rnds we started to move further out in the field at various natural targets and he was doing quite well so I ranged out a 100yd dirt pile along the bottom of a slope so there was backstop for him & he was just about right on target, now this is with fibre optic open sights so he was doing quite well. Eventually it was time to leave and he did not want to part ways with his new toy just yet but it was time to head in for supper so we cleaned up and went on our way talking about the great time we had together
!!! I only wish my father had taken me to enjoy this same sport when I was 8yrs old!!!!
