My Brass Storage Solution....Pics Now Up.

Actually NVS..........I do NOT have, and am looking for, a set of RCBS 375 Wby dies..........loading for it right now with 375 CT dies, but I know sooner or later I will need to FL size my cases and will need the proper die set. I'm also missing a set of 22 Sav HP..........so I can shoot my old take down 99.

Cool...a challenge...I'll keep a look-out. Some older family friends starting to reduce their collections...

I vote c-fbmi as the most organized/best equipped nutter in Canada. :) :)

Thanks hawk-i.........I have seen some very nice and almost fancy loading room set-ups, some in the thread at the top............mine is more utilitarian, and the organizational aspect is also out of sheer necessity. When one has over 200 firearms, and ammo and brass and bullets and dies and shell holders and trimmer pilots for nearly every one, a certain amount of organization is absolutely essential, or the frustration level becomes unbearable and thoughts of self harm start to creep into ones consciousness........
I'm certainly not the best equipped, I only have 4 presses (3 mounted), no annealer, no casting equipment, no milling machine, only one lathe, and on...and on...and on.....what I do NOT have, makes a very long list. But I make do.......

There is a flaw in my brass storage drawer set up..............as usual I tried to make things from wood with machinist tolerances, doesn't work.....EVER...........There is not enough gap between the drawer fronts when loaded and the drawers drag on the fronts of the ones beneath when opening. Now I shall have to remove the drawer fronts and trim 1/8" off the tops, on the table saw, of the 4 beneath the top. They don't sag much, but just enough to drag the drawer under it out about 1/2 way. I think a saw blade width should suffice and still look acceptable.............Then of course I shall have to repaint the 4 top lips............AAARRRRRGGGGGGG. Thank God I didn't glue the fronts, just 8 screws each and the knob bolts hold them so it's only likely an hours work to make right.

All done.........except paint..........fixed the drawer fronts and installed the primers..........gaps are not absolutely perfect as I had sanded them to perfection when I first made it, but they will do just fine. I keep learning..........

OK, I'm officially sick of this project, so now it's done....... On to the next...well I have to clean up and put the tools away.........Then on to the next........

Nice work on the cabinet. I went with bolt bin style boxes that I can just grab a bin and go to a bench.

It looks like you probably need another two of those. Each gun needs at least two bins, one for spent and one for prepped. And thats not including precision stuff that needs to be sorted by lot or prep technique. Then comes trying to label everything properly so you have a clue which .223 "that' brass is for! Overwelming pretty fast if you don't get a handle on it eh?

Nice work there Douglas.

Yep 'Looky, coming for sure this year...........

After many years of reloading, shooting, lathe work, metal work, wood working, flying, racing and all the other sh!t..........I still have both eyes and all 10 digits........complete. Hearing is frucked though, feet are source of constant pain and knees are starting to give me some grief......but I got every last piece of all 10 fingers and toes, and can see out of both eyes.......sorta.

The snow is gone Suther and the sun actually made an appearance today.........tomorrow is SUPPOSED to be nice so we'll see what it brings. Then there is the infernal wind, but we can always hope. I do not consider an afternoon shooting and checking loads to be a project......it's more a pleasant interlude. Projects usually take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks and on appropriate days can be procrastinated to fit in a........."pleasant interlude". Keep your fingers crossed and we shall see what the day looks like tomorrow or Sat.
I like to get set up before noon, and if the weather and wind holds, I can shoot right till dark........I have test loads for probably 25 or more rifles, so a couple weeks worth anyway. BUT I will start with the 22-284 just for you OK?

Thanks buddy.

Oh, and the drawers look good. As soon as you started talking about needing knobs, I knew what was going to come of it, but I'm honestly surprised you went with 50bmg. I would have expected something a little more oddball out of you (although I guess the fancy brass is worth too much to turn into knobs lol)

Nothing else big enough for my little pinkys.........I thought of 45-70-90-110-120 or 470 NE but they are just too small to get my fingers to grip..........50 was the most practical choice. They would be even better with a rim, but alas, no such thing as a 50R BMG.......
