Some time ago, I set out to build a C8 clone but as most of us have found, finding key pieces (ie barrels) is easier said than done. I'm now at the point of having a rifle that is 'close enough', having sourced nearly all the parts from board members or sponsors. Thanks CGN!
Two members particularly worthy of mention, and really the reason I'm posting this:
Craftsman 441: a craftsman indeed, he took my M4 profile barrel and turned it into one that externally specs out to a C8 barrel. Great work done by a great guy. Thank you.
Murdoc aka Arma-Coat: once I had my C8 barrel, I needed it refinished. On a tip from a CGN member, I contacted Murdoc and he quickly got me set up. I can not over state it...this guy does excellent work and at very reasonable rates! My crappy BlackBerry pics do not do this barrel justice. If you need refinishing, Murdoc is the guy to go to. Any blemishes or discolouration in the pics are from my camera...the thing was flawless.
Some pictures (again, apologies for the quality, or lack thereof):
Quite frankly, the rifle is pretty ho hum. I'm really quite jacked about that barrel.
In the end, the gun is just a bitser, but I've got a bit of Colt in there such as the handguards and 2-position vinyl acetate stock. I'll continue the swaps as parts and funds permit. But for now, I'm a happy camper.

that sold me on these carbines many years ago. Wish I could see the receiver better.
