My Colt 1889 showed up in the mail today

This Morning I was happy to see that my Colt 1889 was in the mail. Directly from Weimar Texas with a little detour by Alabama .

It is a .41 Colt caliber manufactured in 1894, mechanically sound, with strong rifling. The finish as about 95% blue remaining turning to a nice brownish patina in some areas.

Nice revolver! Any issues with export/import from Texas to Canada?

YES ! It is the second time I buy an Antique revolver on GunBrokers from Texas, and every single time the seller had hard times from USPS counter clerks who wanted to see what was in the package, and refused to ship to Canada.

In both case I had to have the gun shipped to a buddy from Gunboard who is a gunsmith and runs a gun shop in Alabama and he shipped to me. Needless to say that makes shipping fees much more expensive ( pay twice the shipping for the same gun + handling fees to the gun shop to process it )

I bought antique revolvers many times from other states without any shipping problems but Texas are the worst and they are definitely NOT too friendly when it is time to ship guns ( antique or not) to Canada. The only times I bought from Texas without shipping assles, it was from Collector's Firearms who is a huge dealer. I guess USPS leave them alone as they want to keep their business. In return they squeeze the wise on small gun shops and private sellers who are not big clients.

I believe some USPS counter clerks are really ''FBI wanna bees''.

I have bought 5 Revolvers all from Texas and Diffrent parts of Texas and not one of em had any Issues with USPS.

I find Texans are Great to deal with!
I have 3 Guys i deal with in Texas and have got some of my Best deals from Texans and there great to talk to on the Phone very Freindly.

Your Sellers just musta found the one Liberal post office in Texas

I too just bought an antique Colt .41 from Texas, nice gun. If you're looking for a nice hollow base mould for your .41, I'm having a special run done for a purpose built .41 Long Colt mould and can get one done for you, they're $75 each, it's a ~170gr hollow base heeled (new combo for the .41 which will work very well). Has a full .407" dia. short driving band up front, and a .386" dia., long thin skirt hollow base. Should give accuracy comparable to other standard centerfire wheelgun cartridges but in the .41.

All I know they were from small towns from the same area so this really well could be. Unless they were bullsh*ting me to not bother shipping to Canada. God knows ! Either way, I had to have my revolvers transit by Alabama to finally get here.

A Hollow based Heeled bullet? now thats Intresting.

I love my 41 DA Colt getting the right bullets would sure make it worth keeping.

Thanks for the offer, but I am not really reloading incline . I am not equipped, nor have any knowledge of reloading I would need a good mentor, and a good set up!

I don't mean to hi-jack, but I have a .41 on order. Are the bullet molds still avaialble?
