Ok well last thread got nuked because of to many B.S Posts so back up she goes.
I dont want to know the Value its not for sale so forget that right from the start.
I got the gun home now so have had a chance to go over it and its a beauty but i dont know if its factory reblued tho its a pretty good job the ser # in the 23000s is very sharp and clear as are all the markings the barrel just has Colt on its left side its a custom barrel the bore is ex.
Its a very nice gun locks up good and works Ex in DA and SA.
I dont care if its factory reblued or not or just a good job by some gunsmith its still and intresting gun.

I bought that Bianchi Holster for it today at a local gun store it fits the 3.5 inch barrel perfect.
The gun loves this holster its a perfect fit.
I got them 41 long colt bullets in the picture with the gun + a RCBS 4 Die set i never had a 4 die set for anything before not sure what that extra die does ?
Some bullets are lubed and HB others are heeled FB no lube yet.
All in all its a sweet unit. lotsa empty once fired and new cases just need to get her out shootin now :)
I have a pics of the inards and will post that later looks new inside.

Anyway there was a few guys intrested in this gun as there not a heck of alot of 1889s converted to 1892s so im starting another thread so they can see the gun.
going by the ser # in the 23000s its in the 1889 range so its been converted to a 1892 upgrade somewhere some how.
enjoy the pics.

Dam i Love the Way that 3.5" barrel looks on that gun.

Have you had a chance to shoot her yet?

ALso Think there is room in that Bianchi Holster to fit a 4" Barrel? my local Gun shop has what looks to be the same one

Maby but this one is pretty tight at 3.5.
When my 4 inch S&W DA gets here next week i will try it and let you know.
if it fits then so will your 4 inch Colt.
I got this holster for $40 cash which i think was a great deal.
Its been non stop rain here so no chance to shoot her yet.
Sure are well made guns tho.

I think a 4 inch barrel would be OK, it would just move the gun back abit and just make the snap flap abit tighter.

Very nice. I'd love to upgrade mine but that machining thing...not so much desired.
I'm really curious about how it shoots. My '89 shoots stupid high at 20-25 paces. 4" bbl.
But it comes back in at 60 yds. A bit far for 4" bbl IMO but what can you do, right?

This gun is NOT a "factory reblue". Something like 90% Of these guns were "upgraded". So if you look into it the unmolested guns are far more difficult to find.

i take it you did not READ his first post..he Doesn't care... You Don't need to Try to Start s**t in this post
Also There is NO way to tell if it's a "factory reblue" With out a letter from colt. So why would you post your BS? you Dont know that it's not a "factory reblue"... IT Very well could be.

You Do know that you can still send Guns back to colt today to get factory reblue done.

Yes your right theres no way to tell unless i get a Colt letter.
The Stampings are all very sharp.

By the way Starpuss this holster fits a webley MKI** with a 4 inch barrel perfect eh. Better than this colt even so if you can get that holster for a decent price id grab it.
Theses are by far the best fast draw but secure holster you will buy i have 4 of them this one is the shortest.
I have one thats for a 8 inch barreled S&W and they fit more antique guns than any one holster i ever bought. :)

I think this would be a good time to remind people to show some common courtesy in their posts. It is not acceptable to post accusations or imply them. That is something to take up with the moderators. If you are making claims that something that is thought to be uncommon is actually extremely common, then post your references.

Bottom line is use common sense and be polite in your postings

Of the 5000 1889 colts that were sold to the us navy all of them were sent back to colt for the upgrades.

Nope. That's just the navy ones... Many, many more were upgraded.

Ps. Your gun that you claim is converted is most likely a .38 colt. Keep shooting it the way you do and it might become part of your face. That, would make a good YouTube video.

Oh and your confused. Nowhere near 31,000 1889's were made. The total number of 1889's made is closer to 5000. The vast majority of 1889's were sold to the government.... The government didn't like how the revolvers were constantly out of time due to the fragile nature of the action so they asked (told) colt to do the upgrades.

So I take it you are more knowledgeable than Flaydermann? His 8th edition page 94 gives the number as 31,000.

I for one am getting pretty tired of this petty sniping. If you like the gun then appreciate it for its merits. If you don,t like the gun then ignore the thread

Maybe I am.... I like how any time you buck the trend around here everybody gets their panties in a knot. It doesn't matter if your posting facts or not. I could be wrong but wiki agrees with me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_M1889 now I don't think this is the best source of information but it does support my opinion at this Time.

It seems to me that your both quoting the same source. If you only use one source it could be wrong. I have been wrong before...

You didn't get the ban hammer for admitting to illegally importing a prohibited handgun... So, I'll get my advice elsewhere. Thanks though, kiddo.
