OMG!!! Those are absolutely stunning!

How on earth could you part with them?????

You should know me well enough by now to answer that.:D They were safe queens and I hate safe queens! They went to good homes.
That's high polish alright. Jason only does bluing when he gets a bunch of jobs together.
His number is 613-224-6266

if memory serves, i think yo'd be better off going aftermarket barrel and bushing- my mk4/series 70 has the FINGER BUSHING AND BARREL- but that's 45 acp- i don't know whether that was for all calibers in that series or not- these things had a reputation for breaking "fingers", although it never happened to me

You don't have to use the finger bushing with the Series 70 barrels, you can fit a regular bushing to them as well... ;)

But I am also +1 for having never broke a finger bushing on a Series 70 pistol either.

Beautiful Prproulx the blueing looks like royal blue found on Pythons.

I'm also surprised you parted with them, when it comes to 1911 I'm a big time collector I don't shoot my most cherished ones, old WWI and WWII 1911 sit in the safe heck I even have a Kimber Eclipse Target that is unfired I have a strong will. :D

My Glocks and Norinco 1911 get lots of use though.

So it seems my biggest roadblock in getting this the high polish it so richly deserves is this

If this pitting is to deep then im going to lose lettering and im not up for that. I think all you guys have forgotten to look at this picture. I love the high polish finish but I dont think im going to get it because of this pitting. Im also not going to send my slide all over hells half acres looking for someone who can re-stamp lettering and take the pitting out.
I love the high polish finish, but in saying that id never shoot it cause id be afraid of the dummy scratch and scratches and dirt in general. I want a no nonsense everyday shooter that wont break my bank but still look good.

Yes, you will blurr or completely lose that script if you have the side flat filed to remove the pitting. Personally, at this point I'd opt for the bead blast & reblue to keep the script, proofs, logos intact etc. Will come out a matte finish but at least it will look good overall. Besides, it is a shooter, no? ;)

.....and BINGO was his name-o. Yes you are indeed correct on that one. I didnt buy it to keep it tucked away in the safe. It would have been nice if the slide wasnt as  as it was, but i cant very well :slap: the previous owner for faulty storage. No Weinjack, im not referring to you....unless!!!! ;)

***UPDATE***

Well boys after countless suggestions from you guys and much grrr'ing trying to figure out what to do with it, I have shipped it to Gunnar today. He said that he will try to save the letters on the right side but if they look crappy after he's taken the pitting out, then they will go bye bye. As for the finish, i got hooked on the high polish but all that will depend on what Gunnar finds once he gets into it.
So that is that. Gunnar says 2-4mths :)

I wish it was left over bluing. I got an old dental pick from my RC truck toolbox and picked a bit at it. Some came off. So I got excited and took some ###X steel wool to the area and gently polished it a bit. The blotch is pitted, but im thinking its not as deep as the lettering.

It would be a durn shame to lose the lettering on that side of the slide. :(

Woohoo!!!!!!!

Its ALIVE......just got an email from Gunnar. He said he got the barrel fitted and she is ready to rock. Still have to pay for it, but if all goes well. Im hoping that she will be back in mt dirty little hands in about a week.....2 weeks tops.
I'll post pics when she is home. Gunnar did mention that the Fusion barrel doesnt fit very well so the slide sticks out a bit at the back. Still functions, but aesthetics wise im sure it will be noticeable.

What?? If it didn't fit you should have sent it back. It took Jason Spencer about fifteen minutes to fit mine and it looks and functions great.

Here is his email to me....

"Finally got enough of a breather to drop the barrel in. It's a Fusion so doen't fit well - will work but the slide protrudes a bit at the rear (and there's not enough mest on the barrel to move the slide ahead). The eBay pieces from Fusion are showing up and seem to be really badly made...this is now the fourth part I've had sent that wasn't made properly..."

Ive waited almost 3 months for it. If its "that" bad, then i'll ship it back to Fusion
