My Custom 10/22 Build & Cost.....

Only limit on building a gun is what can you afford.... I started my gun builds years ago with my first 10/22 build.... it was the best platform I thought to start on as a beginner... a lot of options for everything and a lot of people with info to help one out..... I'm really liking what I'm seeing here folks! Giving me the itch to do another long overdue 10/22 build... :)

I've thought about upgrading one of my 10/22s but by the time I priced everything out I'm thinking I might just save up for a volquartsen.

Wow, serious coin on a 22.
I wonder how it would compare to a CZ at half the cost?
Unique builds = priceless
Seeing them on EE for same cost or more = silliness

These builds make my factory Volquartsen seem like a bargain. It cost less than some of these builds ,it is a superior rifle, and if I decide to sell it, the resale price is significantly higher.

I will agree on two points... some people over spend on their builds and your resale is higher because "name brand" sells... I will disagree on one point, your VQ is not a superior rifle. It is a very nice rifle, but not superior... every part going into my build is of equal quality to VQ, and is integrated tuned and tested. I have owned both VQ rifles and Kidd Supergrade's... and have opted for building my own, when I am inclined to drop significant dough into a precision 10/22 platform... which appears to be a fairly regular occurrence.

I have also done complete builds mixing specific Kidd and VQ parts and arrived at, what I feel is, a superior rifle to either Kidd or VQ.

Believe what you want, but I believe that a stainless barrel threaded into a stainless receiver is superior to a barrel being held into a receiver with a v-block.

Unfortunately that is only true if the true weak point is dealt with... a rear bolt hold down and precise bedding of the receiver... both of which, as well as a threaded receiver and barrel can be done in a DIY build... don't get me wrong, I did not say that "every" build is the equal of your VQ... that would be asinine, but a build of equal quality and performance can be achieved in a DIY build.
