i like the wood stock style and wanted to get a pistol grip so i did this up for my D model and it feels good, i uses a AK blond wood pistol grip worked it to fit my sks standard stock, i sanded some wood on the butt stock to clear more area for my hand, its not the perfect job because i dont have the skills for it and not much patience but it looks good and feels good, soon i'll sand all the stock to put a new taint and clear to match all the parts together! more pictures soon!

Good work!

It reminds me of the full-auto version of the M14.

easier to watch.

i find a hand rasp comes in handy , it takes off alot of wood fast and shape it real nice , followed by regular file.

Got A question...
That rear sight you have to screw on and off every time you want to remove the rear cover?

I think it's a good start. Function and feel are critical, but with some more work, this stock can look good too. Give it some final shaping with a rasp or even heavy sanding, then refinish the whole thing and it will look much better, and your wood will be preserved too.

yes thats what i'll do, some finish to do, yes to take the cover off i have to unscrew the rear tech sight but the adjustment is done with 4 little screw, so when well adjusted even if you take it out you dont have to readjust it at each time i take it off

Not sure if this helps but honestly what i would do is take the handle back off . Use a rasp to remove material where the handle sits but more towards to the back to get a little more angle on the handle roughly 15o , take a file and meld and contour those 2 parts of wood on the handle together and then finish with wood filler and refile .

After that i would take some more wood filler and fill in that roughly sanded area on the stock to make it more streamlined but add is slowly so you can still get a good grip on the rifle .

Finally re stain the whole thing a single colour , preferably darker to hide the wood filler usage .

dislike. Get some one who's good with wood work to finish the job!

^^ +1..

Actually, i find very weird the whole idea to have a pistol grip on this kind of stock..

That full auto M14 in the other picture, looks pretty bad.. IMHO

I think it is a great start and a good idea.. You just need to refine the sanding and filing a bit more...Thats the great thing of these rifles,,they are cheap enough and are in available in such abundance that we can experiment with different looks and styles!!!!

I like the concept and if you like it and it shoots good, why not!..

Maybe try youre hand at a paint job. Theres a sticky on here about how to do it... cheap too.:) Im saying that because wood stain might not stain the wood fillers and new pistol grip the same shade...
