My CZ-91 Skorpion, trying to find a rail system.

mechastalin: can you provide a pic of the skorpion from the top down?...might give a better view, and allow us to provide you with an idea.

It would make sense to have the rail attach to the dove tail at the back where the stock attaches to. It would have an opening for the rear sight and not go far in order to ensure ejection. Even better, design it to have 58 folding stock attach to that!

So is it a handgun or a rifle that is restricted due to barrel length/OAL?
If it's the second, it could be made into a non-restricted.

The top was the first place I considered but theres no sort of mounting point unless you found a way to put something in the place of the stock irons. The bolt slides up against the upper receiver so drilling anything there would probably break the gun. That and I don't want to do any sort of permanent modifications to the gun.

Although technically a handgun according to the criminal code most of the ones imported had their mags pinned to 5 rounds in order to avoid legal bulls**t.

"handgun"
"handgun" means a firearm that is designed, altered or intended to be aimed and fired by the action of one hand, whether or not it has been redesigned or subsequently altered to be aimed and fired by the action of both hands;

Theres no arguing the Skorpion is designed with the capability to be fired one handed, although obviously people are unsure exactly what to say when the gun comes with a stock attached. A Skorpion with the stock detached falls under the legal requirement of handgun no questions asked, because if it wasn't already a handgun it is has now altered to be one.

I was thinking of something that attached to the front sight. Without actually seeing close up photos of the sights it's impossible to see if this would be possible. The rail would have to be small in any event, probably the size suitable for a doctor optic or Aimpoint micro. I see th ejection port is on the top but which way does the pistol eject?

I doubt the front sight would work. The entire receiver is about 1mm thick. The hard parts are the barrel and trunnion and the rear end, which is aluminum. That picture is of the sporterized USA pistol. Normally, there is a dovetail at the rear. That is where you could attach a mount.

They eject straight up (watch the video, post 19). As for length, sure some have suppressors, but the raison d'etre of the system always was to create the smallest SMG possible.

This is what I'd like to see (Charles?). It would attach to the dovetail. It is two piece with the top part attaching with hex screws to the lower. The upper part has an opening for the rear sight. The dovetail is replicated to reattach the stock (which wouldn't then fold), but I can also see it made to attach a 58 side folder (my choice) or maybe a Stormwerkz adaptor. Just thinking out loud.

I've been beaten to this, but the pistol ejects straight up and slightly forward I believe. Even on an indoor firing line I had no problems with casings coming back down my shirt or hitting me in the face or anything, I had the odd one bounce off the roof and bump my shoulder or something but nothing dangerous. Not too many ambidextrous guns made in the late 50s/early 60s.

I'd love to have one of these full sized stocks. In the photo of the wood one you can actually see that its a VZ-58 stock mounted onto an adapter to fit the Skorpions dove tail. In theory this means that you could probably mount a VZ-58 side folder and I think it would look pretty cool.

Yeah, this is what I had in mind and in my opinion what would be the most sturdy and look the best. I have no machining skills whats so ever. Perhaps I'd have to talk to Dlask, I hear he knows his stuff and is Czech on top of it so he'd probably get a kick out of doing something for a Skorpion.

Here is a shot of a spare hinge/mount for the folding stock.

In my opinion, although I don't know much about machining, the easiest way would be to run a horizontal bar through the two holes where the stock pivots for a base. Than have 2 posts coming up on either side of that bar with two spots for hex bolts and a rail sitting up top. Or would it not be much more expensive to just machine the entire thing out of one piece of metal with a hole cut to see the rear sight? Do all rails have similar mounting holes? Because it would be cool to not have the rail be a piece of it so I could change to a bigger/smaller rail as needed.

BTW, here is a photo of an interesting stance I discovered when looking for Skorpion stuff, I'll have to try this with my shorter mag next time I'm at the range.

Looks pretty good Deck. Incorporate a rudimentary rear sight (in case the optic fails) and it would probably be the cats a$$.

If you cut a U shaped recess into the bottom of the rail, or even just mounted the rail high enough, you could still use the rear sight on the gun just fine.

Guys sorry for asking. Does anyone has Scorpion for sale? Not so easy to find it.

It's not a common gun in Canada and there currently is no more being made for import to Canada. Your best bet is to post a WTB ad in the EE section or just keep an eye on the EE, one will pop up eventually. Expect to pay $1000 or more.
