I know, buy once cry once.

My DA556 with a 20" barrel is jamming and I can't figure out why. The rifle performed flawlessly for the first 500 rounds or so and now it fails to extract the spent cartridge and tries to feed the next round into the chamber causing the bullet to be pushed back into the casing.

I installed a new extractor but that did not work. I changed the BCG from me DA556 14.5" rifle (which works perfectly) and still had the same jamming. I've tried 3 different magazines and the only thing I've shot out of this rifle is Norinco ammo. I'm not sure what else might be wrong with the gun but something must be out of sorts with the upper. Anyone have an idea what I should check next.

Sorry for the crappy phone pics:

It may be a stretch but it could be over gassed, causing the BCG to begin it's movement before the brass has contracted, creating a lot of strain on the extractor which could be slipping the rim. Do you have any pics of the fired brass, particularly the rims?

I don't have any pictures but I did inspect the brass after manually extracting it from the chamber. There are no marks on the brass that I can see. I thought there might be some scratches or something but I couldn't see them.

Norinco ammo is loaded pretty stout so I doubt that it's ammo related. I suspect a gas problem. Inspect the gas tube and key to make sure everything looks right.

I will have to see if I can find a video on this. Haven't done this before.

You changed the extractor. How about the extractor springs?
Changed both.

My da556 would jam with norc ammo especially if the bcg was getting dry. Have you tried with any federal or PMC ammo?
The BCG wasn't dry. I've only run Norinco through it.

If you changed the bcg it isn't the gas rings.... If another bcg did the same stoppage I would check the buffer and the gas tube....
I hope I can learn all I need to know in just one video.

I may have to look into that.

Check your extractor spring setup. Should be a spring, a silicone tensioner in its centre and an O-ring around the spring.

Humm, if the spent case is still in the chamber, sounds like it could just be over gassed and not enough tension on the extractor (or worn extractor hook) to bite on the case rim. Since you changed extractors and bolt, could very well be over gassed and weak tension on the extractor.

As other pointed out, try a different brand of ammo and see.
