My dad's 30WCF

It was made in 1913 as far as the search by serial number on the web. . He bought it for $10 at Eatons in Toronto in 42 or 43. Any Ideas on worth, finish, etc. I know the saddle ring has been removed (noisey in the bush I would presume) and the rear sight may not be original. It shoots straight, once after walking the bush for a week with no deer he shot a jack rabbit on the run at about 30 yds! (nothin but ears left)

I would estimate the value at $400 to $500, the sight is worth at least $100 as well.

Looks like an original Lyman #2 Tang sight, a nice touch. Value's not going to be sky high, just a nice family heirloom there.

I think you mean 2nd variation Lyman.

A #2 had a threaded aperture for screw in eye pieces, the one on that gun is a #1 with the flip down aperture.

Might be an Eastern Carbine with no ring. No ring mark on stock. Also check your LOP as something is not correct with stock and butt plate

It looks like someone has scrubbed all the patina off of the receiver and barrel. That early "stainless" should be nicely coloured after close to 100 years of exposure.

Nice screws.
Tang is worth $150 give or take.
I can't see what's going on with the saddle ring hole???
No wear on reciever so could have been removed very early.

I personally wouldn't value it more than $500 including the tang with that Butt stock.

It is an herloom so keep it shoot it & enjoy it as is!

Never let an heirloom go, thats a good rig for it's age and I damn sure would be hunting it every year. Les
