My dad's gun collection...

Hey everyone,

Just going through my dad's estate gun collection that our family will be distributing.

I would like to get them all, but that will not happen. So i would like to hear opinions from others on which ones are most collectible, or will be in the future. Let me know what you think, thanks in advance.

I'd keep the sniper garand.

The star of the collection is the M-1D Garand rifle. Second the Finnish M-91 Tula rifle. Third the ljungman AG-42B. Israeli k-98 .308 win (ease of finding ammo). Carcano M-41 & Steyr M-95 (because of condition). Portuguese K-98 (are desirable but this one is a bit worn to my taste). Berthier & Commission M-88 are Turkish rebuilds so not as desirable.

If it were me, I'd want

M1D Garand

Finnish Mosin Nagant

Swedish Ljungman

Those three are, I believe, the most collectible of the bunch (with the possible addition of the 1888 Commission rifle).

I'd want to keep the garand, ag42, Finnish Mosin, and the Berthier, at minimum. Sucks you cant have them all - care to tell us why? Can't afford them, other family members want some..?

I'd grab the Garand, the Portuguese, and the Ljungman.

I would grab Israeli Mauser and Carcano.Maybe Gew88 too since I don't have Danzig made one.

For personal choice , I would grab the M-1D Garand as a first choice ; followed by the Swedish Ljungman .

My condolences on your father's passing. As others said, the Garand is the gem, and a nice overall collection.

I'm curious of this as well, if my father passed away, if be keeping EVERYTHING !

I remember the Ljungman well from when i was a kid, my dad was excited to show it off. As far as a favorite, I would guess the Garand.

Your Dad had good taste.

Condition, condition, condition.

My top 3 would be the portuguese mauser, the steyr m95, and the carcano.

Although if you sell the Garand you could probably buy just about anything you want.
