My Daniel Defence is maked223 on the upper ?

Check the barrel, the chambering should be stamped on the barrel.

The upper, or lower even is never a guarantee, the barrel is.

I believe the first batches of DD rifles that came in were marked 223 on the upper receivers and barrels to get through the US with less paperwork. I've got one from the first batch and I checked the headspace on the barrel and it is indeed 5.56.

Thanks guys. I think it was one of the first ones. I will call DD today and get the straight goods. Then post it here. I want to take advantage of tendas sale, but don’t want 1000 rounds of something that won’t work

It will work fine. Everything is 5.56 spec including the barrel. They are marked .223 because anything stamped 5.56 years ago wasn’t allowed to be exported.

Indeed. I've shot a crate of Norc 5.56 out of my DD with zero issues other than the typical stink smelling Norc powder. Wolverine also confirmed back then that these were all 5.56 and the 223 markings were there to ease/speed up exportation.

And here's my DD from the first batch to come into Canada with the 223 marking on the upper.

Nice - what Aimpoint Optic and mount is that please?

What did you paint the Safe/Semi with?

I use "Testors" model paints and lightly wipe off the wet excess with rubbing alcohol. It holds up well on my collector rifles to highlight the serial numbers etc.
