I've bought this rifle lightly used (less than a brick through the barrels).
It has everything I want on my "Dream Rifle' but would take me years, from Canada, to co-ordinate ordering, construction and assembly.

There is a rimfire gunsmith, Calfee, (google legendary) who claims this method of scope mounting puts less stress/tension on the action.
Remains to be seen.

Schwing!!

What's on the muzzle? I'm used to seeing tubes for longer sight radius but what are those for? Balance? Weight? Muzzle brake? ;)

Great looking rifle! I hope it shoots for you!

I'm just getting into precision .22LR. Should be fun!

My rifle won't be here till Tuesday.... and it's ~40 years old... =)

Mine is almost that old. I have a '78 Anshutz that's set up for sporter class. It still shoots better than me.

Vostok CM-2.

"Built in the USSR"

haha. Supposed to be amazing shooters, and factory set triggers down to 3-4oz.

I'd like a Anschutz eventually too. Beautiful rifles. This one was just more affordable and with peep sights allows me to shoot without an expensive scope to start. It will likely eventually get my PST though.

I like the OP rimfire. Benchrest tend to be "over the top", but this one was done with class.

Some interesting information there.

Whats the reasoning behind the extension on the barrel? That didn't come factory did it?

Beautiful rifle. Still worth a lot today!

Hi Shibbyl
This rifle, the 54.18ms-ed was built for off-hand metallic silhouette. The extension tube has weights on the end that you can remove and/or move around to balance it for personal preference.
I've never touched them as I shoot from a bench.

What is the advantage of a right hand bolt with a left hand feed/ejection? BTW gorgeous rifle.

It enables the shooter to load and shoot faster in a given condition(atmospheric) to take advantage of that condition. Cycle the bolt with the right, watch the condition for change, load with the left and nudge the rifle back to the forend stop on the rest with the shoulder almost concurrently.

Interesting. Makes sense that it's very important for off-hand use.

Have you had the new one out again? Maybe you need pictures with BOTH guns =)

Some day I'll own a nice Anschutz too.

Re: scope mount setup. There is room to move the rear mount to the back of the rail but I think they are in the current positions due to the action. I think the bolt handle may contact the scope mount if it was mounted in the "normal" position. Sad it looks a little silly in its current position
