my FAB-ulous 58

heres some pics of my pimped tgi 58

This stuff is great. The handguards fit perfect and are rock solid(I wouldn't mount a 12x scope on them but should be great for a red dot)
The pistol grip is very comfortable.
The stock is a work of art custom made from imi galil hinges. Folds nicely, locks up rock solid. Raises the comb a bit hard to use with irons unless its all the way extended, would be great for optics. I plan on replacing stock with an ace boom tube.
The vertical grip/bipod/weapon light is freakin sweet. I plan on getting several more.
Adds a bit of weight, it now feels like a bare bones ak instead of a 58 but damn, its bad ass.

How did you get the stock screw out? I am using my tire iron to "try" and get mine out but it is in there good.!

I got mine out using a shot of WD 40 ... let it soak in and repeat .. then use a large screw driver. It will work.. don't worry

Very nice looking setup Obiwon! Can you tell us a little more about the FAB Defense T-POD with the tac-light cradle? It was not available when I bought mine, but if you think it adds something to the equation, then I'm wondering if I shouldn't trade up. Can you quickly detach the light for hand use if desired? Also, did you have a little squeeze in the fit between the rear section of the upper and lower fore-stock assemblies? Mine is a a little more snug than I was happy with; seems to have an oh-so-slightly perceptible bow between the fit at the rear. Once again, great setup! Congrats! She looks like a winner to me!

P.S. The pistol grip; I was thinking of replacing mine with a FN-SAW grip. In retrospect, I don't think I like the finger separator on the FAB grip so much and was wondering if you had kicked the SAW grip arrangement around any.

Pic of mine. I like your M-4 style butt-stock, but am not partial to folders really. Do you know where a man can get a setup for a fixed M-4 style collapsible; or even better, a fixed Galil-style butt-stock?


God, another edit--sorry Obiwan, but you're rifle has me all fired up on the VZ again--but I wanted ask you about Mags. I understand that you are in the States, as am I, and I have been looking forever to find someone who can shorten some of my mags to 20rd.-ers. Have you had any luck finding someone? Just curious.
