My factory VARMINT/HEAVY BARREL rifle shoots sub .75" all day! Really? Prove it!

Congrats Viper26. Nice shooting. I added your name to the list in the original post. You have also shot the smallest group and smallest average so far.

I'll play :)

Finally got my seating deapth sorted if I can manage to not jerk the triger I could get in the under .5 club :)

EDIT: I forgot how to internet

Nice try porterhouse. So close. Just for future reference you only need 5 groups instead of 6.

I don't know how that program calculates but I assume we look at the MOA after the max size.. Which means he did complete the .75 and damn near did .5.

Very impressive. What's the info on the gun?

All groups must be under .75" whether or not you shoot at 100 yards or meters. I realize it sucks for the 100 meter guys but that's the way it is.

Congrats Porterhouse. You know, I've never owned a Remington that wasn't a good shooter and it's really nice to see a bone stock one - driven by an obviously good shooter - achieving such excellent results.

he did it with 5 groups outta six, with half being under .383....and you honestly feel that he is sooo close ????

Porterhouse..great shooting man!! Thak looks like an outstanding ballistics program you're using. Are the distances calculated with the cursor throughout the program ?

Yes I feel he was close but not successful. He definitely did some great shooting but his post does not meet the requirements of the challenge.

This should qualify.

First the pictures.

Small group: .599 - .224 = .375

These groups were shot by my father with his rifle.
Rifle is a tikka varmint heavy barrel in .223 Rem. Off the shelf with no work done.
Scope is a Bushnell 4200 6-24.
Harris S series bipod.
Rear bag.

Load is 55 grain V-Max bullets under 12.9 grains of alliant bluedot (gotta watch for double charges!). Speed around 2700 fps. OAL is max for the tikka magazine.
I've worked up this load with my father for our gopher outings each spring. All rounds loaded off a lee turret press using an auto disk to charge the cases.
I figure this isn't bad accuracy for a load i can make at the rate of 200 an hour.

Went to the range Saturday...Almost did the challenge...Forgot the camera
