My 25 yr old son called Saturday to ask if I wanted to go shooting sunday afternoon. Said sure, thinking he meant shooting paper at the range. But when he came by today he said to bring gopher guns because he had a gopher shoot lined up.

It was a 60 acre pasture that was over run with rodents. We shot for 2 hours and used up a 550 round box of HP ammo. These gophers had never been hunted before and shots were close and frequent. We didn't even cover a quarter of the field before we used up all the ammo and decided we'd leave and come back in a few days and do it again. Didn't keep count but because the shooting was easy we conservatively shot 300-350 gophers in 2 hours. Owner doesn't shoot gophers and doesn't like poison so wants us to come back and keep thinning them out.

Pretty good Father's day present.

Nice, some people have all the luck. All I got was dinner at a 5 star restaurant.

My gift was all three kids and my grandson home at the same time... a rare occurrence, and very nice.

Throw in a gopher shoot and you are in heaven! ;)

Got to spend the weekend with my daughter (and her new Red Heeler pup) and wife at the Grand Prairie 3D Archery Shoot. Was a great weekend and Father's Day!
Great weather, family, friends and fun!

My son and I shot Speed Steel on Saturday PM and 100 meter rimfire on Sunday morning at Mission.
Calling it a Fathers Day shoot on Sunday saw two sons, one SIL and two wives attend and shoot.

I would consider that an absolutely STELLAR Fathers' Day=lucky you!

My kids all forgot, but they're probably too young to keep tabs on these things. (15/17/20) lol I suspect they only figured it out via social media, but 2 of them had to work the afternoon/evening...so I got a couple of nice texts then much later...a vanilla milkshake from Kawartha Dairy up the road and a bag of buttered popcorn from the Cineplex. :) I'll take it.

I claimed the afternoon so from about 1pm-6pm...just me, two of my favorite rimfire rifles, some snacks, portable shooting bench and a whole whack of ammo=good times! After that, some post-shoot pulled-pork from the local BBQ joint and an Alexander Keith's. :)

As per my instructions to both of my sons, all I want is a phone call or visit and some conversation. I have made it clear to them that I do not want Christmas, birthday or Father’s Day presents. They both have extremely busy schedules and some conversation and time is my only wish. They always do this for me. No pressure and it is always pleasant.
