this not open for debate ...just post your all around favorite rifle for big game;) ..if you want, post what you use in it
for me its my trusty ole 7600 remmy in a30-06...followed by a 180 grain partition..
whats your fav?

I dunno, I'm kinda ambivalent about my hunting rifles. They all work, and I'm not particularly attached to any of them. I 'bond' a lot more closely with my varmint guns that see thousands of rounds per year.

Big game guns just don't inspire me to play with them much - accuracy isn't nearly as important, 2-3" is fine. So I don't spend a lot of time tinkering with them, developing loads or practising. They recoil a lot more so aren't as fun for extended sessions either. I view them as much more utilitarian pieces than 'fun' guns.

Still, if forced to choose, I'd go with my model 70 7mm and my 45-70. I have a 7600 in 30-06 that I like, and would never sell but still rarely use - usually pre-empting with the 7mm. Maybe a grand total of 20 rounds through it in the past 20 years. It's absolutely mint and a gorgeous gun, but I hardly ever use it.

Tikka T3 Lite in .300WSM topped with a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40 AO. Beauty of a gun, and a real tack driver right out of the box.

I really liked my Ruger No1, it was a 416 rem. too heavy though, with too much recoil :( I sold it.

I think sometime before next fall Ill pick up a Ruger No1 light sporter in 7x57. Topped with a fixed 4x Leupold, it should be a package that Id like to hunt with. Probably will keep to the classic theme and shoot 139 gr Interlocks @ 2700 fps for deer, and 175 gr Hornady round nosed Interlocks @ 2500 fps for moose :D

other than that fantasy, I love to carry my lightweight 30-06 700 titanium, and of course my custom 260 remington :) 168 gr TSX/ 130 gr TSX

well my only hunting rifle is a sported no4 mk1 so i guess its my favourite
maybe i will buy myself a stevens 200 in 30-06 or 300 win mag this fall

for a long range-pack it around in the boat type rifle, I really like my 6.5WSM.

I'm kinda partial to my Snider however, and my hawken, also.
I liked my 7X57 Ruger No.1 RSI ( 'till I sold it!!)

*I'm back to thinking about a lightweight highwall in 6.5WSSM again, mine is still a tad heavy for walking around with, although it is 3lbs. lighter than tha 6.5WSM

The 45/70 is in a class all its own!:dancingbanana:

This year it is a (new to me) semi custom 700 in 257Roberts. It shoots 100gr Hornadys into 1" @ more than 3100fps.

I have a feeling that my Browning FN 300H&H will take that spot when it is completed. :)

Tikka T3 Stainless Synthetic in 270 WSM, just got it a month ago, but I love shooting it and hope that I will take lots of game with it in the coming years. But on a general note, whatever I can shoot accuratley and consistantly.
