I guess it would depend on which specific game I'm after.

My dream rifle would be 7x57 in a double square bridge Mauser 98, French walnut, express sights, barrel band sling swivel topped with my 2.5-8 Leupold.

For the Big and Nasty, a 9.3 x64 Brenneke in basically the same configuration would make me smile all day long.

I would have to go with a 1874 shiloh sharpe in 45-70 or 45-90. smiliar to the
Quigley down under model. basic, simple and it works.
 
I have a Ruger No. 1 in 45-70 with a 2-7 VXII Leupold on it I like, as well as a 7600 Rem. in .35 Whelan.

If I were going to the "wish list" ... a new Mauser '03 in 6.5 x 55 or
7 x 57 and/or the "new" Mauser 98 double square bridge in .375 H&H.
At 3,500 or so for the former and nearly 10,000 for the latter, it may
be a while before I see either one.
 
Ruger M77 (Tang safety) action and wood stock 26 inch Stainless teflon coated Kolbe barrel. Makes barrels for Border Barrels in Scotland now.

I currently use my SKS to hunt moose and polar bears (JUST KIDDING)

If I could chose any rifle it would be a sako 75 in 270 or 30-06
 
Browning .300 comp stalker, wish I woulda got the s/stalker now though.
Last hunt camp we had 5 different .300wm's - Husky, 2 remmy's mtn and a bdl, a browning and a Winny mod 7. Can't say there was anyone who disliked their caliber, and definately everyone loved their manufacturer. It was summed up though by one of the guys, "These days with modern equipment and high tolerances, a guy can spend less than $600 on a new set-up and go out in the bush and hunt just as successfully as some guy who just spent $4000 on his set-up or even better"
 
Win 94 in 30-30 of course. But sadly, it probably won't get used this year as our draws are in wide open prairies. Most likely it will be my 7mm RM topped with Burris FF2 3x9.

My fave is the one in the center, my browning bbr (yes, BBR) in 300 win mag, super accurate and all of the last 5 animals i took have been one shot kills.

The one next to it is a rem 700 bdl in 338 win mag. Older picture, the rifle now has a burris signature series 3-9x40 on it and has been sighted in and I can't wait to take it out this fall. Hopefully will be able to get a shot off at a big bear with it.

Shotgun was sold due to me buying a condo :( but i will get me a new one soon enough (before duck season ends hopefully)

p.s.

The 300 has seen 180 grain nosler partition, barnes-x and walmart cheapies (speer hot cor) and preformed well with all. The .338 will be on a strict 225 grain diet and some 250 grain nosler partitions when i go strictly for bear.

If I was to hunt only deer, I would grab my LH Ruger M77 MKII 30-06 with the Bushnell Elite 3200 4-12 on it. It loves the Nosler 150 grain Ballistic Tips over a max charge of IMR 4305; it shoots three shots to 1/2" @ 100 yards.

It may be overthrown by my newly restocked T/C Omega with a Burris Super Mag 2-7 if it shoots as well as I hope. I also may be swearing at it if the beast does not work this weekend.
 
Got many that I like aloth , for hunting local I would go with the 1100 in 30-06 I have on ee, light , perfect glass, and a shooter.
For bigger, or badder game, 375 H&H 700 custom shop remmy topped with a 6x42 leupold , held there with a super sold leupold ring mount system. AAA Walnut stock , and a heavy 24 in barrel takes this rifle into the fields for a long shot with power , and premium bullets in the 250-300 grain range. A tough combo to beat in that package.
For light deer / coyote adventure, its browning 78 single shot, in 6mm, or a Sako bolt action in .243 win. 4.5x14 burris on the 78, and 2.5 x 8 leupold on the sako. All these guns shoot very well , and would not feel out of place hunting game they were designed for. ;)
Oh, and for heavy cover scouting trips, its hard to beat the trapper in 30-30 , lyman peep, and 94 win, 38-55 with williams peep.
